UPINCLASS does not and will not tolerate bigotry and hate speech of any kind on this forum. You understand that punitive action must now be taken against you for posting your slur, right? There is no place for your brand of ignorance here and you are therefore banned from posting any more
After a BAN of two weeks, you might be allowed back on this space to apologize.
Maybe we'll see you again after Breeders' Cup. If not, I can only wish you the best
and I can only hope that you learn and grow from this lesson in what is... and what
is not acceptable behavior in public or in private. Get a clue, Wilhelm. It's never too late.

maybe the offending word(s) was put in by the word perfect processes? I suspect it has more to do with the bottle than the word perfect...lol...somebody should investigate.

Disappointing but inevitable. Can’t believe with the Breeders Cup a week away we get caught up in this crap again. Also what’s all the bullshit with posting under aliases.

bpiets is banned from participating on the forum until midnight, Nov. 10, 2018... that's two weeks! At that time, he is welcome to return with an earnest apology. Otherwise, it's "Happy Trails" - so long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye. His brand of will not be tolerated!

The Big Question (or one of them) : Does God exist is one I have pondered and struggled with since my late teens, and do to this day. I am familiar with Hawking's work as indicated by hoop:
"Stephen Hawking quote. “When people ask me if a god created the universe, I tell them that the question itself makes no sense. Time didn’t exist before the big bang, so there is no time for god to make the universe in. It’s like asking directions to the edge of the earth; The Earth is a sphere; it doesn’t have an edge; so looking for it is a futile exercise. We are each free to believe what we want, and it’s my view that the simplest explanation is; there is no god. No one created our universe, and no one directs our fate. This leads me to a profound realization; There is probably no heaven, and no afterlife either. We have this one life to appreciate the grand design of the universe, and for that I am extremely grateful.” Hooper"
Here is some other food for thought:
Did the dying Stephen Hawking really mean to strengthen the case for God?
written by Philip Goff
In his final paper on the multiverse hypothesis, the world’s best-known atheist made a supernatural creator more plausible.
Scientists have discovered a surprising fact about our universe in the past 40 years: against incredible odds, the numbers in basic physics are exactly as they need to be to accommodate the possibility of life. If gravity had been slightly weaker, stars would not have exploded into supernovae, a crucial source of many of the heavier elements involved in life. Conversely, if gravity had been slightly stronger, stars would have lived for thousands rather than billions of years, not leaving enough time for biological evolution to take place. This is just one example – there are many others – of the “fine-tuning” of the laws of physics for life. Some philosophers think the fine-tuning is powerful evidence for the existence of God. However, in his 2010 book The Grand Design (co-authored with Leonard Mlodinow), Stephen Hawking defended a naturalistic explanation of fine-tuning in terms of the multiverse hypothesis. According to the multiverse hypothesis, the universe we live in is just one of an enormous, perhaps infinite, number of universes. If there are enough universes then it becomes not so improbable that at least one will chance upon the right laws for life.
In Hawking’s older version of the multiverse hypothesis, there is great variety among the laws in different universes. In some gravity is stronger, in some weaker, and so on. However, physicists have come to see problems with such a heterogenous multiverse, especially if the number of universes is infinite. We work out the predictions of a given multiverse hypothesis by asking how probable our universe is according to that hypothesis. But if there is an infinite number of universes, that question becomes meaningless. And hence in his final paper, A Smooth Exit from Eternal Inflation?, Hawking and his co-writer, Thomas Hertog, formulate strict limits to the kind of universes that populate the multiverse. The problem is that the less variety there is among the universes, the less capable the multiverse hypothesis is of explaining fine-tuning. If there is a huge amount of variation in the laws across the multiverse, it is not so surprising that one of the universes would happen to have fine-tuned laws. But if all of the universes have exactly the same laws – as in Hawking and Hertog’s proposal – the problem returns, as we now need an explanation of why the single set of laws that govern the entire multiverse is fine-tuned.
Hertog seems not to agree, arguing that the paper does make progress on fine-tuning: “This paper takes one step towards explaining that mysterious fine-tuning ... It reduces the multiverse down to a more manageable set of universes which all look alike.” However, this merely puts off the explanation of fine-tuning, for the result is that the laws underlying the generation of the multiverse are fine-tuned. We now need to explain not only why our universe is fine-tuned but why every universe is fine-tuned! In terms of explaining the fine-tuning, this is not a step forward but a step back. All is not lost. Hawking was exploring models of the multiverse based on inflationary cosmology, and his paper casts doubt on the potential of this kind of multiverse to explain fine-tuning. But there is another source of scientific support for a multiverse theory: the “many worlds” interpretation of quantum mechanics. While physicists have been exploring inflationary explanations of fine-tuning, philosophers of physics have been exploring quantum mechanical explanations of fine-tuning. If, in the earliest period of our universe, our laws were shaped by the right kind of probabilistic process, the many worlds theory could furnish us with enough variety of laws across the many worlds so as to make it likely that one would be fine-tuned. We don’t yet have evidence that our laws were shaped by such a process. But if the alternative is the postulation of a supernatural creator, then this seems like the more plausible proposal.
There is still hope for a scientific account of fine-tuning. However, by ruling out one of the two scientifically credible options for doing this, Hawking and Hertog have slightly strengthened the alternative explanation in terms of God. It is ironic that the atheist Hawking should, in his final contribution to the science, make God’s existence less improbable.

Fascinating debate...
Otherwise it takes me back to the recent ringside “after party” following the Mac Gregor beatdown——an honest snapshot of current levels towards tolerance and civility
Wondering why “stewards” let this discourse begin troll-style, then demonstrate their version of morality and control to punish a long-term member

For the most part this has been a somewhat civil exchange of thoughts and opinions by almost all of us. One must expect that some will feel, and express, more passion toward or against certain issues, groups or individuals (meaning politicians), but each is responsible or his or her own behavior. An unfortunate choice of words resulted in a rare disciplinary response that was deemed necessary by the powers that be and, I hope, that Billy returns and this incident becomes a reminder to us all that civility and respect for others and their opinions is the rule. "nuff said?"

Similar to the feelings of righteousness displayed by the far left fascist justifying g mowing down members of Congress practicing on a softball field.
It is all sad and troubling from either end of the spectrum. We all need to get over not winning or getting our way on occasion. It is because of extremists on both ends that we have a NO POLITICS white house(well...no one liked Hilary was a major factor also). NO POLITICS va Clinton—think about it...
Even more sad is that shortly we will probably elect another group of extremists who won’t be able to agree on or solve anything other than trying to destroy the opposition. While the large majority of people don’t want any part of either side.
The wall? I don’t need it—most don’t- has always been a crazy idea I say let Texans pay for it. Those that make it in maybe bus to Amarillo and California and other sanctuary destinations. Southwest side of Chicago for Rahm? Saudi Arabia?
The March shows how truly dangerous life can be elsewhere Can’t fault someone for wanting a better life for themselves and their family—while too dangerous to work towards a better existence in their homelands.

The right honorable gentleman from Ohio has appealed the decision on behalf of the offending gentleman from Canada. The decision to ban was mine alone. No other Stewards were consulted on the matter. (that was wrong) Upon reflection - and after having had some bad days in a row of my own, it would seem that I have arbitrarily enforced my "version of morality" ...(and that was wrong). Therefore, out of respect for you, spiderjohn, I shall now indeed "FREE BILLY P" and lift the ban against him. HOWEVER... it should be made clear that there are only a few things that really get my goat. Bigotry and Prejudice are at the top of my list of attitudes I find to be intolerable. What the heck, this is the freakin' basement and it belongs to good ol' Spanky. I shouldn't even be down here, for goodness sake! "All Sports, Music & Opinion." bpiets' unfortunate, unacceptable and ignorant "f*g" comment caught me at a rough time. 'Morality' that includes bigotry and prejudice is, in fact, immoral. Billy P is free to express himself as he wishes. Just cut out the crap and be aware that words matter. That's all I ask. Sincerely, Dell Yount upinclass@hotmail.com

Nice job Bobtail...you managed to bring the Goochster into the conversation! I try to read through the Canadians remarks but it makes my head hurt, no offense William. I picture my friend Gooch lounging by a pool somewhere in Italy... his lovely bride dropping grapes into his mouth as he catches up with some light reading...lol...you really ARE the man Gooch!... :>)

Thought Boston would sweep, after game 1. Still think they will win--they seem like the better team. Amazing game last night. I made it thru 12 innings before I went to bed. Watched thru 16 on the iPad, before I fell asleep with the device on my face. I do dislike all this analytical crap and over managing. Like the commercial says, "Let the kids play". Btw, Manny Machado has the worst haircut in baseball.....

"I do dislike all this analytical crap and over managing. Like the commercial says, "Let the kids play"." I do agree with brother Gooch - big time. I wonder how the big game would look with just one rule - "Do Over". It's been working for the kids for a millennium or so.

Seems to me that the NFL is becoming nearly unwatchable. Too many rules. As the final seconds click off from the game in London (Jags got burned by a silly rule) it seems to me we're moving to globalizing the NFL. Rae Curruth out of prison and I wonder...How long until he gets his chance on a major network hosting with fellow ex-con Micheal Vick? but back to the rules. How long until the owners and their puppet master Goodell adjust the rules concerning hitting the QB's?

Hee hee! Even Drumpf tweeted last night about Roberts' overmanaging. Probably the only thing we've ever agreed about! It did cost the Dodgers the game, imo, though the Sox bats were not likely to stay that quiet much longer. Skipping sports and politics later today to attend this: www.sfboogiewoogiefestival.com/

Love Christopher Hitchens for a number of reasons, not the least of which is being the first to call out Drumpf for his tiny hands. The Skokie march of Nazis is an interesting case, but might be slightly misrepresented in the video. After years of legal wrangling and a court decision that ultimately affirmed their right to march, the cowards never did march through Skokie. Only 20 or so ultimately assembled at the starting point, but quickly dispersed after protesters greeted them, and it became clear that they were outnumbered and could not hope to goose step over the neighborhood. Interesting case, from a variety of points of view, but scum ultimately lost that day, as it should today.

Wow...turn my back for a day and all hell breaks loose! The Canadian Flash. Gone. Spider vs. Gooch. Interesting. World Series, great. Happy for Hoop. I'm 110% in the corner of anything Anti-NO POLITICS . I do think he is the Anti-Christ, apologies to non-believers. My best friend is a member in good standing in the Spaghetti Monster Alliance. Will not explain due to respect for UIC policy of discussing religion but Google it and it will be explained. But the real news today is...
It's the NFL trade deadline and players are being moved! You know the Pack would trade #88 asap and they did! And how could I not mention Mr. Hendry. We are the model for long term disagreements! But yet we are proof a Texan and a lad from Scotland can exist in the UIC universe! Haggis anyone? :>)

I also was a huge fan of Christopher Hitchens who sadly was gone far too soon. However I believe it was another great wordsmith, Graydon Carter , who was the first to comment on the size of NO POLITICS ’s hands . Sadly there are very few examples of Hitchens on NO POLITICS , the most memorable line probably being “ Donald NO POLITICS , a ludicrous figure but at least he’s lived it up a bit in the real world and at least he’s worked out how to cover 90% of his skull with 30% of his hair”. Hitchens was of course no fan of Hillary Clinton either and his book “No One Left To Lie To “ was a brutal critique of the Clintons. www.vanityfair.com/culture/2015/10/graydon-carter-donald-NO POLITICS slate.com/news-and-politics/2008/01/the-case-against-hillary-clinton.html
