I like Messier in the Malibu. This was their goal all along...nice string of works leading up, and Taiba taking the money should make Messier the "other" Baffert a tempting play.

I don't use most of their 'calculated' numbers, like speed figure, pace profile, prime power, etc. I am interested in turf races, primarily. I use the RR- race rating & CR- class rating to understand the performance, i.e. how strong a field/race was it, and how well the horse ran. I find these ratings are very accurate, especially in overseas racing. TW |

R1- #7- Sumter (7-2) should be the controlling speed, won two one mile turf stakes here in Feb & Apr, return to the distance should be the key. 1 & 6 are closers. 3- I'm a Gambler kept improving for the Johnstons this fall, but if they kept him at 7F I'm thinking a mile could be testing for him. I'd think hillside sprints would be right in his wheelhouse, though.
