I had the hospitality package for each game which included unlimited alcohol at the stadiums. Also all the hotels in Qatar had sports bars which sold alcohol. Western media have been trying their best to deem the World Cup a disaster but so far it’s been a tremendous success.

Western Media should take a chill pill? Crowds with access to unlimited booze playing a rough game...what could possibly go wrong?

Here in fly over country, there has been a lot of interest in the games. 90% based on USA participation. From the little of what I have watched, everything seems to be very well done, and local media has given substantial positive coverage. I can't imagine the on-site experience being anything less than amazing and enjoyable.
Only negative that I noticed was the unfortunate number of migrant workers that died during event associated construction of facilities and infrastructure.
This is a huge worldwide event to multi-millions, and they seem to be engrossed with it.

I hear ya Tony. I wasn’t pleased when Qatar was awarded the World Cup but that was 12 years ago . So far it’s been one of the best World Cups I can recall , certainly more enjoyable than Russia , Japan / South Korea and South Africa. I literally met thousands of fans from all over the world and everyone was having a great time . You could literally get to any of the eight stadiums hosting the matches within one hour no matter where you were staying in Qatar . Also safest football event I’ve ever been to in my life . Did not see one incident of violence in the two weeks I was there .

I’m looking forward to the next one since I have a house in Philadelphia. But what happens when a team plays a game in New York and their next match is in Los Angeles !

Or, Toronto to Vancouver?
I just assumed that the different groups would be staged regionally...maybe that is not the case?

The groups will be staged regionally but when it comes to the knock out stage then it changes. In 1994 Italy won their semi final in New Jersey and three days later had to play the final in California

Should be interesting to say the least. Why is China not a bigger name in soccer? I find that curious.
