Where a4re you now Bev or spider? I have been and still am glued to the tv watching this hurricane. A history making event does not come along often' and the aftermath and clean up is mind boggling. Hope nobody from UIC is in danger...

First on-site report is nothing serious though no one has been inside any of my properties. Evidently we never lost power, though water was turned off and is still off. Feeling it for my Ft.Meyers area friends......
Wishing everyone the best.....trying to post the Indian blessing that has protected my area for a LONG while--like him or not, DeSantis seems very much on top of the situation. FEMA is responding well
Hoping to make the Bungles/Dolphins game this evening

Nephew in Bonita Springs, house 14' above sea level. During the storm surge water made it into the house 2' feet high. Three cars probably ruined.

"DeSantis seems very much on top of the situation despite not hearing from NO POLITICS". Where do you get your info?
"First thing this morning, I talked to Gov. Desantis and again offered the fullest federal support. Earlier this week I approved his request for the pre-landfall emergency declaration to provide direct federal assistance to the state, for emergency protective measures to save lives, including search and rescue and shelter and food. Earlier this morning I approved the governor's most recent request for expedited major disaster declaration," NO POLITICS said.
He continued, "That means the federal government will cover 100% of the cost to clear debris and for all the costs the state has to engage in and expend to save lives. The federal government will also cover the majority of the cost of rebuilding public buildings like schools and state fire stations."
President NO POLITICS said the federal government will cover 100% of the cost that the state of Florida incurs for its emergency response efforts related to Hurricane Ian.

Glad to hear eveyone is ok from uic...nice pic Bev with a horse standing right behind you...sounds like you dodged a bullet spider. I think NO POLITICS has handled the situation well. He is on sight as far as I know. Looks like the Bucs v Bungles game is gonna happen at Raymond James stadium in Tampa.
I'll bet the Bungles.

I know that this was obviously coming on for over a week. DeSantis(probably our next president) was lining up supplies, power workers, transportation/road-clearing for the whole time, and turned them loose quickly when conditions allowed. No Joe then or now, though he is talking and starting to act. Don't really want him in charge of anything honestly. With good FEMA coordination, FL seems to be doing as well as possible with not much delay. Last minute long-distance "covering the costs" is fine also. Leftys are SO touchy lol!
Think you might have a winner there, Spank....don't like -3.5 or the money line----Dolphins have a strong D and great wrs.
Best wishes for those along the Atlantic!

Where do you get your info? " I have watched NO POLITICS in action for close to two years.....he has screwed up pretty much everything in which he gets involved, and is led around by his protecters. He can't even put together a decent press person. Everyone is aware that he is not together and getting worse. Quit pretending that his stuff is working.......+ shoes is right on the Ukraine mess otherwise, pick winners and stay safe!

" I have watched NO POLITICS in action for close to two years.....he has screwed up pretty much everything in which he gets involved My 2 cents, since I'm registered idependent and not wed to any party, but I strongly believe reaching across the aisle and working together to achieve best outcome for all Americans, esp. in time of need like in FL right now. I have family in Tampa but it wouldn't make any difference to me anyway, when people need help, esp. given the insurance predicament in FL these days. However, I do remember when Desantis was newly elected into congress 2013, he was one of the 67 House NO POLITICS who voted against a $9.7 billion federal flood insurance assistance package for the victims of Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey. Hopefully he will be more generous now that FL is on the ropes. As for NO POLITICS, he managed to get our medicare premium knocked down for next year, which is good news for all seniors, esp. the struggling ones. Now if only both parties will do something about Big Pharma.....I went to fill a prescription today and WITH insurance, they wanted $400. This isn't an unusually high powered RX or anything. I said "you can put that back on the shelf." TL:DR Hope everyone in FL is safe and sound, made as whole as possible, and as comfortable as possible. These are fellow american citizens, i.e. my people.

It's nice to see you posting again Spanky.
Political talk really doesn't belong in a thread about a hurricane, but I would say that both DeSantis and NO POLITICS have done a decent and better job within their powers than the federal and state(city) response to Katrina. I know this area well. North Ft. Myers, Ft. Myers Beach...these 2 spots got hit hard as far as more densely populated areas. Bonita, parts of Naples, Sanibel, Captiva, Pine Islands....all got hit hard. In this part of the country there's a mix of high priced homes and trailer parks in many beautiful nooks and crannies along the coast and a little inland. This one from Bonita Beach below shows it starkly. What's left of a trailer park next to a Condo.
I'm near Gulfstream in SEFL, where weather wasn't much of an issue with this one.
Edit: mysaladdays....try PAN Foundation for assistance in this situation.

Glad the weather will be more pleasant for cleaining up, there are a lot of elderly people in FL who will need help. Hope all get running water and power back soon. Citrus groves are going to be devastated.... South Carolina, Pawleys Island pier just washed away. I spent many summers there w/my inlaws. Looks very bad there today. Puerto Rico I could barely look at. Those poor people.
