R1 (9:00am EDT)- 1m2f Handicap (Class 2) (3yo 0-100)www.racingpost.com/racecards/17/epsom/2022-06-04/811449#3- Approachability (12-1) showed high quality in three starts last fall, last seen running third just behind Derby entrant Westover (Juddmonte) in the Silver Tankard. #9- Mr Big Stuff (5-1) is still a maiden through five starts, but ran third to Derby favorite Desert Crown last fall, and was a close fifth after a tough trip in the London Gold Cup at Newbury last time. Drew poorly in 13 but receives lots of weight from the top ones. EX- 3,9/3,4,7,8,9,12 Result: 14,5,7 Blue Trail declared a non-starter after William Buick got hit in the head by Approachability, which reared in the adjacent stall. Buick asked for a moment to recover but the starter didn't get the message, and the field, including Blue Trail sans Buick, left the stalls. #14- Swilcan Bridge ($13.70) continued his rapid improvement for Andrew Balding, giving Hayley Turner a nice pick-up mount (she can do 114 lbs.) in her only ride of the day.R2 (9:35am EDT)- 1m½f Princess Elizabeth Stakes (Sponsored By Cazoo) (Group 3) (Class 1) (3yo+)www.racingpost.com/racecards/17/epsom/2022-06-04/811445 #1- Bashkirova (5-2) has been progressive through five outings, was second in Listed event on 3yo debut. Haggas/Marquand look to make some noise. I really like #7- Technique (7-1) in here, just nosed by Noon Star (Juddmonte) in the Nottinghamshire Oaks in last, her five starts on good or fast (AW) have yielded a win and four seconds by a head. Hoping the rain holds off. EX- 1,7/1,3,4,5,6,7,9 Result: 1,4,5 Exacta $32.60 Bashkirova ($5.40) had to work hard but eventually grabbed the lead from Roman Mist, then held off stablemate Potapova for the win.R3 (10:10am EDT)- 1m½f Diomed Stakes (Group 3) (Class 1) (3yo+)www.racingpost.com/racecards/17/epsom/2022-06-04/811444Short, select field entered with #5- Mutasaabeq (7-2) getting the nod. Handles any ground, just necked by Lights On in GII at Sandown in April. EX- 5/2,3,4 R4 (10:45am EDT)- 5f 'Dash' Handicap (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) (3yo+)www.racingpost.com/racecards/17/epsom/2022-06-04/811446Twenty horse 'dash' requires a five horse exacta box. Despite carrying co-highweight, I feel that #1- Justanotherbottle (12-1) might still be the best of these even as an 8yo. EXBOX- 1,6,7,10,13 R5 (11:30am EDT)- 1m4f Epsom Derby (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (No Geldings) (Class 1) (3yo)www.racingpost.com/racecards/17/epsom/2022-06-04/804247Going to try something different, using four overlayed runners as exacta keys top and bottom, with the four I like best for the win. EXKEY- 5,8,10,11/2,9,14,16 TW

Sir Michael Stoute has trained the winner of the Epsom Derby five times, the first being the immortal Shergar 41 years ago. He has the strong favorite in Saturday's renewal in #2 Desert Crown, a veteran of only two starts, but one who has barely broken a sweat and has given the generally tight-lipped conditioner a bit of a twinkle in his eye, according to those that have followed him closely for decades. #3 looks formidable in the 1st, though it is hard to Get by Blue Trail and those connections. Also seen #2 and #7 in the mix.

Blue Trail didn’t need Buick to beat that bunch. How can you open the gates with the favorite’ rider not on board? Non-starter?

EPS R6 (12:15pm EDT)- 1m4f Northern Dancer Handicap (Class 2) (4yo+ 0-105)www.racingpost.com/racecards/17/epsom/2022-06-04/811447#1- Aaddeey (6-1) had a leg-stretch on the AW in April, now gets down to serious business and retains Harry Burns and his 5lb allowance. #9- Soapy Stevens (8-1) is an improving 4yo gelding, a son of Harzand which won the Derby here in 2016. Turns back in distance, but has handled quirky course at Chester so maybe he'll go well here. EX- 1,9/1,3,7,9 WIN- 9 EPS R7 (12:50pm EDT)- 6f Tokyo Trophy Handicap (Class 2) (4yo+ 0-105)www.racingpost.com/racecards/17/epsom/2022-06-04/811448Wanted to like one of the lower weighted horses but couldn't find one for the win, so #1- Commanche Falls (8-1) is a logical choice, as his 6F record (17/8-1-0) is very impressive, the one second place finish being his last race at Doncaster on 5yo debut. No chance he goes off at 8-1 however. #2- Regional (6-1) interests me the most. Consistent 4yo prepped on the AW in January for trip to Qatar, where he ran a fine second in GIII Dukhan Sprint. Goes well when fresh, should still have some improvement in him. EX- 1,2/1,2,8,10,11,13 WIN- 2 TW

Buick got knocked in the head by horse in an adjacent stall, was dazed and tried to get a moment to recover, but the starter never got the message. Gates opened, horse went, Buick stayed. Declared a non-starter. WTF is the deal with Godolphin/Appleby/Buick horses getting into strange predicaments at the starting gate of big races (see: Modern Games, Breeders' Cup)? At least horse and rider seem to be okay. TW

Last wager will be #16- Westover (30-1) over ALL in exactas. He's caught down inside in the two hole, which isn't ideal, but he should be in the first third of the field early, just needs to see out the trip. Good luck!
Looks like he got pretty warm before the start, still hoping for a big run second-out.

Yes, but its way early still. Hopefully I'm still in the plus after this afternoon's races.
