Early observation. Watching the Houston Gambler vs Michigan Panthers and there appears to be NOBODY in the stands! Ok, maybe a couple of dozen but it's almost like nobody knew they had a game today! I bet under 43' as it seems defenses usually dominate early but there are some funky rules that may come into play. Oh well, it's football.

The original Michigan Panthers won a USFL title which was fun because the Lions have never even been to a Super Bowl. That team also featured Bobby Hebert at QB and Anthony Carter at wide receiver. Doubt I will watch this year though.

shoes, I can report that the USFL is alive and well. Hard to handicap though. I've had moderate success betting the totals while I try to learn more about the teams. There are some rules that come into play i.e. extra points. I still don't see many fans in the stands so I wonder how long the sport can survive with the small fan base attending. Maybe a gimmick like Dallas Cowboy cheer leading gals would help...lol...

Saw my book today and asked if he is getting much action on the USFL and he said more than he expected. I wondered what happened to Jeff Fisher. Cowboys,Texans, and now Gamblers. Lots of options on Texas teams now.

Can't say I blame the guy for preferring pizza over chicken salad but the stands seem to be nearly empty of fans. Not sure how that will work out but I found out a ticket to a game is $10. Kids get in for free. Sit anywhere for ten bucks and there are plenty of places to sit!

Will be surprised if they last as long as the original USFL.

It really is hard to watch, much less wager on. I assume the refs don't get paid much,if at all.

Nobody getting rich in that league.
According to USFL News, players will earn $4,500 per week that they are on the active roster. They would earn $1,500 per week that they are on the practice squad and $600 per week that they are at training camp. That would mean that over the course of a full season, which lasts 10 weeks, players who are on the active roster can expect to make at least $45,000. Players on the practice squad for an entire campaign would make $15,000.

45 hundred for a week of playing football is chump change for some but that sounds pretty good! I don't see a second season though.
