I've never heard of a voided claim, never had one (I don't think; -) or seen one noted in the years I've been in the contest until it came up this year in the thread. Seems like it's coming up more frequently from the results...
I'm so happy that my stable is complete, 4 for 4 results with no scratches (first time for me)... just tallying up my results when I notice, yup, you guessed it, my $45,000 "star" Money in the Bank, "voided claim" ;-)... so the search continues.

The voided claim procedure is indeed fairly recent . It was put in by some jurisdictions (not all) to protect buyers from trainers running injured horses to get rid of them . Unfortunately as always happens in horse racing it appears to be being abused as some trainers not wanting to lose a horse are allegedly getting the “friendly” track vet to void the claim.

NYRA rule.

1) the claim is voidable at the discretion of the new owner pursuant to the conditions
stated in section 4038.19 of this Part unless the age or sex of such horse has been
misrepresented, and subject to the provisions of subdivision (b) of this section; and
(2) a claim shall be void for any horse that dies during a race or is euthanized on the
track following a race;
(3) a claim is voidable at the discretion of the new owner, for a period of one hour after
the race is made official, for any horse that is vanned off the track after the race; and
(4) a claim is voidable at the discretion of the new owner if the horse is placed on the
veterinarian’s list following an examination by the State veterinarian or other
veterinarian who has been designated by the commission to examine claimed horses
in the test barn following the race for a determination of soundness for either of the
following reasons:
(i) the horse is grade two lame or higher on the American Association of Equine
Practitioners lameness grading scale, meaning the lameness of the horse is
consistently apparent under certain circumstances (e.g., weight carrying, circling,
inclines, hard surface) even if such lameness is difficult to observe when the horse
is at a walk or trotting in a straight line; or
(ii) the claimed horse has bled visibly from a nostril (epistaxis) that is attributable,
because the bleeding is not caused wholly by a wound or superficial injury, to an
episode of exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhage

Thanks guys, but I'm concerned that my stable might have some "sprinters" and not a full group that's ready to go 12 months of racing. Tom, I love the pick of Long Term Thinking. You got to him before I could. Steve A. claimed him for the third time out of that race, but this time for himself as owner. 88 Beyer matches his high and opens up some doors. Wouldn't surprise me if that horse goes on a streak and takes down 150k-200k or even more this year. You'll need to get in the background of the winners circle picture if he wins at Saratoga this year. :-D
