Thurs., 9/9- Doncaster
Race 3 (9:10am EDT)- 6½f Weatherbys Scientific £200,000 2-Y-O Stakes (GBB Race) (Class 2) (2yo)
#10- Ever Given (4-1), named after the ship that blocked traffic in the Suez Canal when it ran aground in March, is four-of-six lifetime, including a win at 7F. Last was best yet, beating a field of twenty at York over good ground. Gets in light versus many of these, hard to fault. #12- Harrow (9-2) has been brought along beautifully by Andrew Balding, winning his last two like a horse that is going places. Won a 7F Nursery against a solid group at York on the same day that Ever Given was victorious. He may end up as a 7F/Mile specialist, but his quality is apparent and his progression is textbook. Field of 21 in this heat, so spreading wide underneath hoping to collect a price.
EX- 10,12/1,4,5,6,10,12,18,21 Result: 12,10,5,21 Exacta $12.60 Couldn't split the favorites, but Harrow ($9.60) and Ever Given proved they were best in the big field. I still think Harrow will become a Group-horse miler.
Race 4 (9:40am EDT)- 1m (Str) May Hill Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies) (Class 1) (2yo)
Difficult to oppose #2- Inspiral (3-5) after her first two starts, both impressive wins. Daughter of Frankel should have little to worry about stretching out another furlong, Dettori just needs to try to get away better from the stalls. Worth checking the exacta odds with the 1,3,4 if the probables permit a wager.
EX- 2/1,3,4 (price dependent) Result: 2,4,6 Inspiral ($2.20) won as easy as you please, despite being bumped off stride early in the race. Hard to tell what she was beating, but certainly one of the 'winter-book' favorites for next year's Oaks.
Race 5 (10:15am EDT)- 1m6½f Park Hill Fillies' Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1) (3yo+)
Three progressive 3yo fillies top the market here. #6- Free Wind (2-1) is by Galileo, owned by George Strawbridge. 3-for-4 on turf, winning a GIII in France when last seen for Team Gosden/Dettori. Another forward move expected as she stretches out an additional 2 furlongs. #9- Yesyes (5-1) is a Camelot filly for Juddmonte/Beckett, also 3-for-4, with Ryan Moore up for the first time today. Won a Listed race at Chester in last, going today's distance. She's a half-sister to Pocket Square, which just won a N3X allowance at SAR by open lengths. Further improvement likely with only four starts in the books. Not using 4,5 which appear to need soft going, unless there is an unexpected downpour.
EX- 6,9/1,2,3,6,8,9 Result: 6,2,9 Exacta $17.80 Free Wind ($5.00) was very impressive today, winning off by seven lengths, drawing farther ahead every stride towards the wire. Dettori was the last jockey to commit to his task, must be a good feeling to have that much horse underneath you. Good for Mr. Strawbridge, he's got himself a St. Leger/Cup-type horse for next season, by Galileo! BTW, in the US Mr. Strawbridge races under the 'Augustin Stables' banner, of Forever Together and With Anticipation fame.
Best of luck if you play today!

Fri., Sep. 10th-
Doncaster
Race 2 (8:40am EDT)- 7f Flying Scotsman Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1) (2yo)
#1- Alflaila (10-1) broke his maiden at first asking in a highly rated race, has run close in three subsequent starts including a third to Harrow which won the big $ 2yo race here yesterday. #5- Hoo Ya Mal (4-1) took a big purse maiden race at York in last going 7F over similar ground, both his efforts got big numbers, appears to be one to beat.
EX- 1,5/1,2,3,5,8,9
Race 3 (9:10am EDT)- 5f Flying Childers Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1) (2yo)
#1- Armor (9-5) is a progressive No Nay Never colt for Richard Hannon, couldn't see out 6F in GI- Prix Morny last time, drops back in distance and gets Ryan Moore in the irons again. #9- Attagirl (6-1) is a progressive filly that won a Listed stakes at York three weeks ago, class to be tested but could be this good.
EX- 1,9/1,3,7,9,10
Race 4 (9:40am EDT)- 2m2f Doncaster Cup Stakes (Group 2) (British Champions Series) (Class 1) (3yo+)
With arch-rival Trueshan withdrawn due to unsuitable ground (wants it soft-to-heavy), #2- Stradivarius (3-5) should have them at his mercy today if he's recovered from his epic duel with Spanish Mission last out. Check the exacta probables with the 5,6 for possible wagers.
EX- 2/5,6 ?
Race 5 (10:15am EDT)- 1m6½f Mallard Handicap (Class 2) (3yo+ 0-105)
#8- Speedo Boy (10-1) is in fine form, gets his distance and ground today, William Buick is back aboard.
EX- 8/2,6,9,10
Good luck if you play today!

Enjoyable racing today at Doncaster but I'm moving the blanket to Leopardstown and Curragh the next two days.

Got one in the 8:10 EST at Leopardstow. If he runs well it is on to Del Mar. J'OB thinks dad and bro are playing possum here.

Looked as good as ever, might they run him again next year? TW Gosden said: "His enthusiasm is there 100 per cent and I can assure everyone who loves him that the moment it's not there he will be retired. But until that day comes, which he will tell us, not me or Bjorn, he will race.

Quality field, great race for a small field.. Ryan Moore doing a little race riding by forcing Tarnawa out during the stretch run.

Sunday at Curragh-
R1 (8:45am EDT)- 6f Irish Stallion Farms EBF "Bold Lad" Sprint Handicap (Premier Handicap) (3yo+) field of 25 runners.
#9- Hightimeyouwon (8-1) has run two good races this season, both in big $ handicaps like this, is best at 7F but has won at six, trainer Weld reaches out to Ryan Moore for this. #13- Blairmayne (12-1) runs in and out of form, but throws big numbers when he's right, and trainer Natalia Lupini has been sneaky good all season. Ran second in this event last year.
EX- 9,13/1,9,10,13,14,17,20
R2 (9:20am EDT)- 1m2f Blandford Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies & Mares) (3yo+) field of 8 runners.
#1- Love (7-5) drops into a GII for the first time in over a year, no disgrace finishing third to Adayar and Mishriff last two, wants good ground and gets it. All systems go. #2- Thundering Nights (5-2) seems the primary threat to the top one. Progressive filly ran perhaps her best yet in last, finishing a close third in French GI over ground that may not have favored her best effort. O'Brien the younger tries to lower his dad's flag. Epic! Shout out to Team Valor's #6- La Petite Coco (3-1) for Paddy Twomey, highly progressive 3yo filly has come a long way in five starts this season, crushing a GIII at Cork when last seen, seems like an heir-apparent in the middle distance ranks for next term.
EX- 1,2/1,2,4,5,6
R3 (9:55am EDT)- 5f Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes (Group 1) (3yo+) field of 13 runners.
Very hard to separate the top ones in here. #4- Dragon Symbol (3-1) hasn't won since May but also hasn't ducked anybody. Probably best at 6F but has that on his side should they go too fast early. #8- Glass Slippers (5-2) has only run once this year, but seems to be as good as ever, last year's BC Turf Sprint winner won this race as well using the same prep race. #12- Mooneista (10-1) has progressed smoothly this year, and her two wins were at 5F over good going. Price should be right. #13- Winter Power (2-1) surprised the Nunthorpe S. (GI) field at 9-1 last time, and is 11/7-0-0 at this trip. Ships to Ireland for the first time as the one to beat. Using #1- Gustavus Weston (12-1) underneath, is in peak form right now and could pick up the pieces if some of the top ones are gassed at the finish.
EX- 4,8,12,13/1,4,8,12,13 (not the best wager structure, but if the 1 or 12 hit the exacta, could pay nicely)
R4 (10:30am EDT)- 7f Moyglare Stud Stakes (Group 1) (Fillies) (2yo) field of 8 runners.
Not expecting much drama here. #1- Agartha (5-2) has progressed right through GII company, looks to take the summit today. #2- Cairde Go Deo (5-2) means 'friends forever' in Gaelic. Win and a second in two starts, getting good numbers, and Ger Lyons may be the best Irish trainer not named O'Brien or Bolger.
EX- 1,2/1,2,4,5
R5 (11:05am EDT)- 7f Vincent O'Brien National Stakes (Group 1) (Colts & Fillies) (2yo) field of 7 runners.
Never a good idea to try beating Aidan O'Brien in this race, but maybe #5- Native Trail (7-2) can prove better than undefeated #6- Point Lonsdale (1-2) on good ground. Or not.
EX- 5/3,4,6
R6 (11:40am EDT)- 1m6f Irish St. Leger (Group 1) (3yo+) field of 14 runners.
Former champion jockey Johnny Murtagh is my favorite trainer, so I admit some bias here, but #7- Sonnyboyliston (4-1) won the Ebor at York and Murtagh would covet a win today. #8- Twilight Payment (3-1) 8yo winner of $4M+ has never been better, won the Melbourne Cup last fall, is the 800lb. gorilla in the room.
EX- 7,8/4,6,7,8,9
Good luck if you play today!

Hard to find that winner on form. Stable not happy to see Love appear today, trainer passed up big money G1 chances in US for this. British Champions weekend next for her.

Like the two faves in the sprint—winter power not so much
Snowfall goes shortly in France
Had a big day early with KD yesterday—-skipping it for football today Would like a good score from Ireland first
