I remember going to a Herman’s Hermits concert in Aberdeen in 1971!

Kentucky Downs is an unusual course, probably the most 'European' of all American turf courses. It is an oddly shaped oval with undulating ground, steep rises and falls, and should favor a horse that has good balance. Previous course success is a big positive for me. Front runners can go well here, but it is rare to see a distance race 'stolen'. The purse money offered for non-stakes races is unmatched anywhere in the country, so stables will point certain horses to this meet, even to the extent of skipping Saratoga. Fields of ten or more are the norm, and post positions don't seem to be as crucial as they can be elsewhere.
#1- Whimsical Muse (4-1) is in good form, just missed at SAR in a no-pace affair, was a successful turf sprinter for Amoss until the Maker claim, shipped to KY after the Spa race so this has been the plan. Grade: B
#2- Tammany (6-1) is a lightly-raced 4yo by Constitution, who I feel is going to be a good turf sire going forward. Horse is in fine form against lesser foes but isn't highly progressive, would need to offer much more today for trainer Emmet Jolley (Bev, any relation to Leroy?) Grade: D
#3- Turnstone (10-1) is in terrific form on dirt and turf, which is rare. Yet to face a field of this quality (per RR), but can't be ignored going back to the grass. Grade: C
#4- Color Me Pretty (10-1) can run on any surface, has been picking up small checks against better foes in last four turf tries. Deep closers can be up against the mercy of the pace, but so far at this track they've done alright under a variety of circumstances. Irad taking the mount will certainly draw attention, and money. Grade: B
#5- Majestic Blend (30-1) is off form, never won on turf. Her trainer Anna Meah has been sending out runners so far, but a form reversal just doesn't seem likely. Grade: F
#6- Sugar Fix (7-2) won this race (A25000S, 1mi70) last year under Gafflione. Turf record 19/9-4-0. Knocked around FL-bred stakes company for awhile, then regrouped at GP against lesser company. Also appears to have been pointed to this race, can be right there with a prominent trip. Grade: A
#7- My Bets (30-1) has never been on the turf, Include doesn't throw many turf runners, seems overmatched when not running at TDN. No hope. Grade: F
#8- Breeze Rider (9-2) finished mid-pack in two stakes most recently, but continued her fine form this season. Ridden today by the ageless E.T. Baird (54yo), should be forwardly-placed and tested for stamina at the end. Not out of this by any means. Grade: B
#9- Daddy's Boo (9-2) is a remarkable 10yo mare, career record 42/19-12-2 $520K, mostly on turf. She does one thing, and one thing only...goes directly to the lead and takes the field as far as she can. Won this race in 2016 for same connections/jockey (wow!) and Geroux is riding well at the meet. I'm not betting against her. Grade: A
6,9/1,4,8

Excellent responses, both... thank you. You guys put on a great show at Saratoga this year! Amazing stamina, T-Dub... running the Saratoga Cup and still having the energy for a full write-up. Great stuff!!
I'm settling in for a horse tourney at Kentucky Downs.. Going with the eleven in the first contest race.
Have a terrific day everybody!

"Emmet Jolley (Bev, any relation to Leroy?"
TW,he might be related but Emmet is not Leroy's son from what I recall. He worked for Graham Motion at Fair Hill when we used to visit the stable during the early Animal Kingdom years.

Thanks Hoop.
Dell, good luck with your HT play. I was unsure about the weather, so I bailed today, but I'm already in tomorrow's $1000 Guar. KD contest. Maybe see some other UIC players there?
