eye- thanks for the video on Police in Japan. I am reminded as to how unique Japan is culturally. I don't know what your intention was in posting this, but Japan is so vastly different from the US, and most of the rest of the world. It is common for us to proclaim that "our diversity is our strength", and in so many ways, it is undeniably a benefit and a strength. In terms of crime and societal conflicts though it is a significant challenge as well. I looked it up to see if my recollection was accurate, and found that Japan is made up of 98.3 % ethnic Japanese (2016 statistics). With that comes a great amount of shared cultural norms, and shared values. Every civilized society has to deal with crime and social issues. Bringing together populations with different cultural and religious and in some cases language backgrounds, is extra challenging. I am proud of our country's history as a melting pot, and that it has been largely successfully doing this. One thing I have observed over the course of my lifetime though is a movement away from a primary goal of assimilation, by immigrants, (while still retaining cultural practices and celebrations) and even a sort of notion that assimilation was somehow a negative. I'm not sure when I first heard the crime of "cultural appropriation" being discussed, as though culture was something to be hoarded and segregated instead of shared. The generations that follow mine are going to need to figure this out.

Shoes, good points, all. I found it interesting how a large city could duplicate what we can only do in small town America. Trust and communication seems to come easy to them, where we are struggling on that.

wandered in to a sonically nice 600 seat old venue last night to hear this lineup. Did not disappoint--maybe the most tone perfect vocalist that I have heard in a long while

Just the other day Remington Park had a $2 win wager pay $374.
What is interesting?
Ed De Rosa looked back at CD to see what the largest $2 win wagers were.
Out of the top eight highest, four came back in 1978....three of which happened 15 days apart.
6/23/78 $258.20
11/06/78 $352.80
11/14/78 $207.80
11/21/78 $495.60 Largest ever $2 win pay at CD
