Thursday at York-
8:50am EDT- 6f Lowther Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies) (Class 1) (2yo) 10 are entered.
Hard to go past undefeated #1- Sandrine (6-5), winner of the Albany S. (GII) at Royal Ascot over heavy ground, and the Duchess of Cambridge S. (GII) at Newmarket in latest. Perhaps #11- Zain Claudette (6-1) is progressive enough to take another big step forward today. Won the Keeneland S. (GIII) at Ascot last out over some of these, would have a chance off of that effort.
EX- 1,11/1,2,4,9,11 Result: 11,1,2 Exacta $35.80 Sandrine ran a bit flat and Zain Claudette ($16.80) did take another step forward today. Satisfying wagering win, but felt the exacta came back light.
9:25am EDT- 6f Goffs UK Premier Yearling Stakes (GBB Race) (Class 2) (2yo) 20 are entered.
2yos that were auctioned thru Goffs UK, one of the premier sales companies (like Fasig-Tipton here.) Weight penalties for wins in Group company or higher class races. Hoping for a bit of a price on #22- Symphony Perfect (10-1) for Richard Hannon/Rossa Ryan. Troubled trip when beaten four+ at Newmarket in last, close second two back to Gubass in the rich Wetherbys Super Sprint S. points her out.
EXBOX- 6,9,10,17,22 Result: 6,20,21,22 Ever Given ($7.80) won like the favorite, he looks like a future sprinting star. Symphony Perfect ran on well for fourth, she can be bet back against similar.

10:00am EDT- 1m Clipper Logistics Handicap (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) (3yo+) 18 will run.
#1- Maydanny (8-1) carries top weight after Golden Mile win at Goodwood. In peak form now, but is giving away 4-16 lbs. to the others, tough task to repeat. Willing to give #2- Magical Morning (10-1) another shot after a poor race against the top weight last time. He's a bit of a head case, wears hood to the post, but if he stays cool he has loads of talent. Frankie rides him back. #8- Fame and Acclaim (15-1) piques my interest. Has run well without winning this year in some high level handicaps, changed from Joseph O'Brien's barn in June and has now made three runs for Les Eyre. Looks to be rounding back to form after an easy race at Newmarket earlier this month, Hollie Doyle picks up the mount today. #11- Baashir (15-1) 4yo for Charlie Hills has steadily improved this season, a mile should be within his scope, is weighted fairly and won here in June going 7F on good ground. Draws the PP1 which is the far side today, but so far today that looks like it could be a good thing. Big ask, big reward.
WIN- 11 EX- 2,11/1,2,3,8,11,13,14 Result: 15,2,5,16 Cruyff Turn ($64.60) was 6/3-0-0 this season against lesser, couldn't see that kind of race forthcoming today though. Magical Morning was calm going to post, ran a winning race under a heady ride from Frankie Dettori, doesn't look like he wants to go a step beyond a mile, however. May need to revert to frontrunning tactics. Exacta came back $721.00 for a buck, which is why we play!

10:35am EDT- 1m4f Yorkshire Oaks (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Fillies & Mares) (Class 1) (3yo+)
If the ground had a bit more cut in it, this could be a real cracker, as #2- Wonderful Tonight (3-1) shows her best over soft ground. 4yo filly has won four in a row since last year, all GI and GIIs, will not go down without a fight. #7- Snowfall (2-5) has been a revelation as a 3yo, winning all three starts by open lengths, her Epsom Oaks win by 16 lengths was stunning, but it remains to be seen if she's that good or the competition was that weak. I suspect the truth lies somewhere in between. Don't miss this one. From a betting standpoint, hoping someone (#1- Albaflora?) can at least split the top two at a price.
TRI- 2,7/1,2,4,6,7/1,2,4,6,7 Result: 7,1,5 Snowfall ($2.70) won easily, with Ryan Moore cruising up to the lead in the stretch, and then just doing enough to maintain a comfortable cushion. Albaflora did run a fine race to be second, sitting at the rear of the field with Snowfall behind the solid pace being set by Hollie Doyle on La Joconde. The rest of them ran sub-par efforts, as La Joconde somehow managed to hold on for third after her early efforts. I'm an idiot for not using the ALL button for third (trifecta $230.30)

Repeat after me..." Always use the ALL button for third when betting triples in short fields." Hate having to relearn this painfully every few months...lol.

In these smaller fields, I try to use ALL as often as affordable. Same with US racing, which is easier with $.50 tris.
Unfortunately I didn’t use #1 for 2nd, and was heavier with #2 on top despite giving 9lb. to the 3yos. When Snowfall dropped lengths behind #2 early, I thought that I was looking good. To say that the winner’s finish was impressive might be an understatement.
Another Ofer— I only played 2 races.

Friday-
1m4f Handicap (Class 2) (3yo+ 0-105) 15 runners.
12 furlongs over good-to-firm ground. #12- Hms President (12-1) has one turf victory in 13 tries, with three each seconds and thirds, so not a prolific winner. Nevertheless, he is in career form right now and the appearance of William Buick in the saddle suggests "all systems go." #15- State of Bliss (6-1) has been highly progressive all season, won the Shergar Cup Classic last out by open lengths, gets tested by good older horses today but may well be up to the task. I really like #17- Wink of An Eye (5-1), trained by William Haggas for The Queen, but this will be his first time at 12F and he may be a race or two away from his best race. May have to save with him in the win.
EX- 12,15/1,3,9,10,12,15,17 WIN- 17 Result: 13,6,9,1 Made a mess out of that race, but my two runners were running one-two setting a strong pace and had nothing left for the finish. Wink of An Eye looked okay, but as expected is still a work in progress.
2m½f Lonsdale Cup Stakes (Group 2) (British Champions Series) (Class 1) (3yo+) 4 runners.
Stradivarius versus Spanish Mission in a tactical race over ground both prefer. Watch it, don't wager it. Epic battle.

Amazingly was emailed the winner of the 1st #13 15 minutes before the race on a return to old Ascot form. Bet him w/p but blew the exacta box. Still a good start
Skipping the 2nd—-will try the 3rd sprint but it is loaded. Also like the Valor runner in the 4th and using Trueshan to finish ahead of Strat also, though Strat is 4-4 @ York
Good luck!
Oops Playing the 2nd and the sprint Trueshan is out so Valor Strat cold x

Sorry about your boy Hoop, but he gave his all. He's clearly the heir apparent, if they keep him in training for another season.
Stradivarius didn't want to lose. He was headed by Spanish Mission nearing the finish, but if you watch the replay, inside the final fifty yards, Frankie, who is using left-handed stick, turns Stradivarius' head to the right with his off hand, so he can look right at his foe. Stradivarius responds and just edges back in front on the wire. Or maybe I just imagined it (watch the replay). That was the best four horse race I've ever seen. If you didn't cheer at the finish, for one, the other, or both, then I don't know how I could make you like horse racing.

10:35am EDT- 5f Nunthorpe Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Class 1) (2yo+)
Hoping to beat Golden Pal in here at a price. #10- Chil Chil (20-1) has improved this season, has a question to answer dropping back to 5F, Balding reaches out to Ryan Moore. #14- Winter Power (6-1) loves 5F over good going, has two wins here already this term.

Hard luck Tom . That would have been a nice exacta. The British commentators didn’t like Golden Pal and they were right

Hard luck Tom . That would have been a nice exacta. The British commentators didn’t like Golden Pal and they were right Once again, I should have used the ALL button underneath. The exacta (12-1 over 60-1) came back 'only' $200 though, so I don't feel quite as stupid as usual. I was thinking $1000 for a buck. Clearly if you didn't like Golden Pal in the exacta pool, a lot of money went to Winter Power on top. {Just looked at the pools on Twinspires. In the exactas, Golden Pal and Suesa (#13) were about equally favored, with Dragon Symbol (#6) and Winter Power close behind.} Stradivarius Appreciation Day! TW
