Agreed. They showed the head-on replay, and even though he had a five length lead, the rider went to a right-handed whip like five times in a row, the horse went left pretty severely. Could have been corrected, but they have lane markers (cones with flags) on the course, and when the horse saw that two strides in front of him he veered away sharply back to the right, depositing the rider on the ground.
I have to take part of the blame however. Right as they entered the stretch, I said to Colleen “when they took the last fence out (eliminated the last one, for safety) it really cut out all the drama.” My bad.
