www.equibase.com/static/entry/CNL071921USA-EQB.html?SAP=viewe2Nice sequence of races 3-9, with two pk3s, a pk4, and a pk5. All full field turf races except two, one of them is 7F dirt. Remarkable assortment of top barns, and mid-Atlantic barns represented. Worth a look IMO. Light rain around, but turf shouldn't be worse than good-yielding. TW

CNL RACE 3 - POST TIME - 2:41 PM ET Nellie Mae Cox S. $100K
1- Urban Fairytale (2-1) is only 10/1-2-3 on turf, but his company lines are far better than most of these. Third in a CBY stakes last time, Geroux comes along for the ride. #4- Tasting the Stars (5-2) has been off since Oct., moved from Stidham to Kimmel in the interim. Two time stakes winner gets Lynch to steer, just needs to be primed off the break.
TRI- 1,4/1,4,5,6,9/1,4,5,6,9 Result- 4,3,1 Hard to explain the form reversal of 3- Fionnbharr (34-1), had shown zero effort in last five starts. I'll bet the stewards will ask to speak to the trainer.

CNL RACE 4 - POST TIME - 3:09 PM ET Bert Allen S. $100K
Only short field on the card, six go. Going to ignore Chess Chief the big name, likely favorite which has never raced on grass in 25 career starts. Dallas Stewart gets Geroux to ride him, but I'm just dumb enough to ignore him. 3- Forloveofcountry (3-1) is in the hands of the slippery Jamie Ness, has won four on the bounce since being claimed. Does have some turf form at FG in Jan., needs to transfer his current excellent dirt form to the grass today.
TRI- 3/1,4/All Result- 1,3,4 That one hurt. Got everything right but the winner, which had it all his own way for the first half mile, plenty left in the stretch. Chess Chief ran a bad fourth, doesn't like turf.
CNL RACE 5 - POST TIME - 3:37 PM ET Meadow Stable S. $100K
Tough field to separate. 3- Elusive Mischief (4-1) has been facing better turf company than most of these, won this race in 2019. Should move forward from his CD stakes race off a year on the sidelines. 11- So Street (8-1) hasn't won in a while but fits off his best efforts, has a win and a second in two course tries. Spreading wide underneath looking for a surprise.
EX- 3,11/2,3,5,9,11,12 Result- 9,12,6 Chaotic race but the 9- Grateful Bred ($6.20) was much the best, bet down from 12-1 m/l.

Bonus Race:
FL RACE 7 - POST TIME - 4:04 PM ET New York Derby $150K
Trainer Richard Lugovich is semi-retired, only has three horses in training, all NYBs. 2- Hold the Salsa (8-1) has some talent however. Broke maiden at first asking, won the Bertram Bongard S. (NYB) in his fourth start, and closed out his 2yo season with a victory in the NY Stallion Series finale. Was a distant but respectible third in the Jerome S. on NYD, then was laid up until a turf tune-up at BEL last month. Trainer grabs Carlos Montalvo from MTH to ride, thereby keeping the odds up. Not sure if he's good enough, but he'll be coming from off the pace, which often wins the day at FL.
WIN- 2 Result- 7,1,3 Odds-on Pletcher stretchout sprinter crushes the field. HTS showed little, maybe hasn't trained on as a 3yo.
CNL RACE 6 - POST TIME - 4:05 PM ET ALWN1X
7- Deciding Vote (8-1) has been progressive in her five turf starts, looking for another incremental improvement today. 11- Turnstone (9-2) is in career form right now, last two on turf were a win and a neck second in a N1X at CD.
EX- 7,11/4,5,7,11,12 Result- 12,7,11 Gold for Kitten ($10.00) remains undefeated in four starts. Daughter of Kitten's Joy was claimed ($50,000) from Ward/Ramseys two back, bet Ken's pissed about that one. Deciding Vote got a nose in front inside the final furlong but couldn't put the winner to bed.
