--- for testing positive for covid. Apparently he knew he had contact with someone who had it and as a result they were testing him every day.

6 shot lead- had been playing superbly. That's a what -potentially $million cost to him for having failed to get his vaccinations in? Apparenty he just got his first one after having been placed on the contact tracing list for contact with someone else.

I'm guessing his playing partners/caddies are under a testing protocol also. Getting close to US Open if you test positive now.

Crazy for him not to be fully vaccinated. I’m sure more details will emerge over the next couple of days.

Covid had a big effect on his home town and family in Spain last year.

If he does not feel any symptoms for at least 2 days there is an excellent chance he has not infected anyone else.

Those he played with in the first 3 rounds were informed of his status and maintained 6 feet from him at all times. If they are double vaxed, and have no symptoms, they do not need to be tested.

Would have won in a canter . Reading the reports from golf journalists on the tour it appears around 50% of PGA tour pros have decided not to get vaccinated . These are the quotes from Jon Rahm’s playing partners yesterday
Patrick Cantlay . “ I’ve already had COVID , so yeah, I’ve got to imagine I have antibodies so I don’t feel too concerned “
Scottie Scheffler . “ I don’t feel very concerned. I had COVID. I’m not going to say whether or not I got vaccinated. “ 👀

Those two aren't wrong perhaps. I saw a reference to a Cleveland Clinic study which suggested that those who had already had COVID had at least as much protection (naturally from the antibodies) than those of us who have been vaccinated. (edit and caution- when I looked for this study I can't find it- proving once again that I should never rely on headline items from any source without reading the complete source material). As far as the 50 percent figure though, I also heard a PGA official say that they expected that percentage would go up substantially over the next few weeks. edit #2. In fact here is succinct article that discusses the issue: health.clevelandclinic.org/when-should-you-get-vaccinated-if-youve-had-covid-19/

FWIW - a vaccinated (J&J) coworker passed away from Covid/pneumonia on May 20th at 50...
almost all major books paid out on Rahm to win wagers.

Sorry to hear that Elk. Fairly rare but that is of no comfort to friends and family.
May 25, 2021 By Akshay Syal Of the more than 130 million people in the United States who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, there have been reports of at least 10,262 breakthrough infections, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
A breakthrough infection occurs when someone tests positive for coronavirus more than 14 days after the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines or the single Johnson & Johnson shot.
Roughly a quarter of the breakthrough cases didn’t have symptoms — they were likely detected through routine testing, the CDC found in a report released Tuesday. Of 955 people who were hospitalized, about a third were in the hospital for reasons unrelated to Covid-19, or were asymptomatic. About 160 people, or 2 percent, died. Twenty eight of the deaths were unrelated to Covid-19. The CDC didn’t report whether the people had underlying conditions or comorbidities such as obesity.

Pretty surprised that they paid out on Rahm. I assume they calculated the cost and once one or two elected to do so, the others did it for PR purposes.
