The Stronach Group pushed the taking of entries and the post position draw for the Preakness Stakes from May 10 to May 11, and moved the taking of entries and draw for its May 14 Black-Eyed Susan Day from May 9 to May 10.

Is the inference that this is related to Medina Spirit? When does sample 2 come back and if it is also positive does that impact his eligibility for The Preakness?

I'm guessing the Pimlico Stronach lawyers are wrestling with a decision to take any Baffert entries this week. And then they will have a potential Santa Anita problem.

I have no idea when the next result will be done. I would imagine they will accelerate testing of the 2nd sample to be completed as quickly as possible. The one thing they can't let happen is to have the chain of evidence tainted so it could be used as a possible out in all this. If it comes back positive, does that rule out Baffert's barn from being entered? Would horses need to be transferred to other trainers in order for them to run?

Gary West has said Concert Tour will run in Preakness. He must have another trainer already lined up to take over.

BB has 7 horses nominated to different stakes races on Friday and Saturday at Pimlico. Add in 1 probable Black Eyed Susan starter and 2 Preakness starters and you understand the potential legal problems for Stronach.

Shoes, Bloodhorse has an article on the KHRC procedures and the processing of the split sample and timelines involved. Not a quick process at all and depending upon what lab does the work, anywhere from 4 weeks to 8 weeks on average all the way up to 6 months before results are returned. The licensees (Baffert & company) can pick from a list of approved labs to have the work done at. Here's a question that nobody knows the answer to, at least not us:
How do we know exactly what is wrong with Medina Spirit? Chronic dermatitis can also be a symptom of a more complex immune system problem.
I bring this up because last time when Bob said Justify had scratches (diaper rash) it turned out he had a heel bruise. Both were minor conditions.
But do we really right now KNOW for certain what Medina's problems are? I have to ask.
