Race 2- 1m4f (The John Porter Stakes) (Group 3) (Class 1) (4yo+)
#2- Al Aasy (9-5) is taking all the money for Haggas/Shadwell, but he appears to need soft ground to offer his best, and won't be getting that today (good). #3- Deja (5-1) has run okay on firmer ground and AW surfaces, fires fresh, and gets Ryan Moore in the saddle today. #8- Without A Fight (6-1) hasn't missed the board in five starts, was highly progressive as a 3yo, handles all ground.
EX- 3,8/3,4,5,6,8
Race 3- 7f (Str) (The Fred Darling Stakes) (Group 3) (Fillies) (Class 1) (3yo)
Many of the best 3yo fillies gathered together (17 horse field) in this potential prep for the 1000 Guineas. #1- Alcohol Free (3-1) won the GI Cheveley Park S. last fall, likes good ground and broke maiden here. Balding/Murphy on fire right now. #7- Isabella Giles (6-1) is 6/4-0-0 lifetime, also has a win here, handles all ground and is 2 for 2 at today's distance. #13- Umm Kulthum (10-1) was progressive in four starts last term, just missed behind Alcohol Free at Newmarket. Should handle the extra distance today. Many others could fill out the underneath spots, just taking a stab here.
EX- 1,7,13/1,3,4,7,9,13
Race 4- 7f (Str) Greenham Stakes (Group 3) (Colts & Geldings) (Class 1) (3yo)
Twelve 3yo colts going 7F on a straight course, didn't draw a particularly strong group. #2- Chindit (8-5) seems to be the standout here, won his first three starts over good ground, then faltered over soft going in the Dewhurst (GI) at Newmarket. Hard to go past.
EX- 2/1,3,6
Race 5- 1m (Str) Spring Cup Handicap (Class 2) (4yo+)
Seventeen 4yo and up going a straight mile. I really like #11- Nugget (10-1) in here, especially at those m/l odds, but I doubt he'll go off anywhere near that number. He has progressed smoothly through the handicap ranks, loves firmer ground, gets tested for class today but may have the answer. #5- Danyah (6-1) was also a progressive 3yo, has faced this company with success, and was a good fourth to the promising Haqueeqy on seasonal debut at Doncaster last month. Spreading wide underneath.
EX- 5,11/1,2,5,7,8,11,14
Good luck if you play!
