Race 2- 5f Handicap (Class 2) (4yo+ 0-105)
Most of these have had a race already or ran on the AW over the winter. #1- Garrus (7-2) missed all of 2020 after a Listed win and Group-placing as a 3yo. Seemed to pick up where he'd left off with a nice score over the AW at Wolverhampton last month. #2- Tis Marvellous (6-1) had a good 2020 especially early in the campaign when close-up to Battaash and A'Ali in Group races. Comeback at Doncaster in March was just a prep as he tired at a distance beyond his best. Should be set to fire today.
EX- 1,2/1,2,3,4,6 Result: 3,1,6 Garrus ran very well carrying the highweight but couldn't hold off Came From The Dark ($10.40) inside the last 100 yards.
Race 3- 2m½f Silver Bar Handicap (Class 2) (4yo+ 0-105)
Real head scratcher trying to figure out which are well-meant, or classy enough, to go close in this. Mark Johnston's yard is in fine form right now, so will try #6- Hochfeld (6-1), a front-runner that was a close third at Musselburgh two weeks ago on reappearance, should move forward for that run; also #7- Rochester House (15-1), a consistent sort which I can't ever seem to catch on the right day, but the price is right. Result: 10,4,7 Almighwar was the hot favorite from the Gosden yard, but couldn't outduel Elysian Flame ($44.00), from crafty Mick Easterby in fine hurdle form, to the wire. Rochester House led briefly inside the Two but probably needed today's run. EX- 6,7/1,6,7,13

Race 4- 7f (Str) Handicap (Class 2) (3yo 0-100)
Wide open contest for useful 3yos not quite up to the top level yet. #1- Saint Lawrence (5-1) carries topweight but ran well in stakes company as a 2yo including a C&D win last summer. #10- Dingle (10-1) was progressive in three starts against quality colts last year, needs to fire fresh but just might. #11- Caribou (10-1) was also a progressive 2yo, albeit against lesser lights, may fly under the radar in this bunch.
EX- 1,10/1,4,6,7,10,11 WIN- 11 Result: 4,1,10 This time the heavily bet Gosden/Dettori charge Mithras ($6.20) was the real deal, but only getting up very late to catch Saint Lawrence, which drifted up to 10-1 and had me hurling expletives while pleading for the wire. Dingle also ran on well for third.
