Any wagering on the Masters? My best payday would be if Justin Thomas wins the Green Jacket although I have several bets. So far, I should have bet the Will There Be a Hole in One? Doh. My boy Ryan is hanging tough at -2 so far...Have any UICers walked the course in Augusta? The humidity alone would wipe me out...

A question for Bev and anyone else who may have been fortunate enough to have played Augusta National. If the best golfers in the world struggle over the course, how can the ordinary golfer get around the course with any sense of dignity? I understand that most players use tees that are well forward from the pros so the extreme distances don't come into play, but the elevations of the greens can't be changed. On Thursday I saw a player on 16 aim his putt about 90 degrees away from the pin, knowing that the hill would take it down toward the hole. On 15 at least one player had a twelve foot putt for an eagle and seemed to stroke it well. It passed the cup and then began to pick up speed before rolling into the water. The view from the tee on 18 appears to be as narrow as a hallway. How does one avoid the trees?
The course is magnificent to look at but how in the world can it be played by other than a scratch golfer.

I am interested in the answer to this as well. I have thought that if I was ever so fortunate as ro be asked to play a round there, that I could not possibly turn it down, yet I would be so nervous. I would assume that one big difference would be that the greens would not be nearly as fast as they get them for the tournament.

The Masters tees measure about 7400 yards for the tournament. Members tees come in at about 6300. Two different courses. The women's amateur tournament last week used the members tees and of the 30 women that qualified for the final round at AN,26 shot 79 or lower with a 69 the low score of the day.

It’s not that bad to play for amateurs . The greens are not as lightning quick as the tournament and the fairways are fairly generous. Birdied the 13th which is my best golf memory ever . Local caddies are essential as they tell you where to putt it . My birdie putt on 13th I would never have made if it wasn’t for the caddie telling me where to hit it . Tough course to walk as the undulations are much more severe than you see on tv. Might be my favorite spot in the world to be at .

That's interesting Mr. Henfry. I assume you have been to multiple Brish Opens. That is my favorite major, especially at St. Andrews. Masters just finished and in Japan they are going nuts. All in all, a good Masters tournament I think.

I get it. It's similar to the "Who's On First" routine. As an American, I'll always say Brish Open. But the whole Claret Jug thing is interesting. Japan has a Masters Champion. That's kinda cool. I guess.

said it before. course is too easy for top pros. maybe not in it's entirety. to be specific it's the par 5's. lotta players atop the board are near par on all other holes for the four days and 12-13 under on the par 5's. happens a lot of years for a lot of these players. they've lengthened the hell out of the course to no avail on those holes. there's four par 5's there. all are viewed, even amongst the tv crew as glamorized par 4's. two put birdies. bad drive, miss the green up and down birdies. 3 putt pars. here's an article saying as much, but i disagree that it's a good thing. golf.com/news/augusta-national-par-5s-none-left/feel like i need to skip the masters watching as i prefer the opens the most.
