Footnotes KNOWN AGENDA was a half-step slow at the break, moved out four wide into the first turn, remained in that path joining the leaders under confident handling midway on the far turn, took over outside TOP GUN TOMMY getting his hind end brushed by the latter at the top of the stretch, shifted to the rail roused and well clear through the furlong grounds, and was geared down into the final sixteenth of a mile. TOP GUN TOMMY vied early inside ETCHED IN STONE, let that one go and moved out to stay on the chase, came under a ride to reach the front three wide between horses after six furlongs, was quickly overhauled by KNOWN AGENDA coming to the five-sixteenths, brushed with that one and steadied while shifting out, continued drifting to midtrack and greenly swapped back to his left lead a furlong out, and remained clear of the rest. AN OBJECTION AGAINST THE WINNER BY THE RIDER OF TOP GUN TOMMY FOR ALLEGED INTERFERENCE AT THE TOP OF THE STRETCH WAS DISMISSED.

I think that was an overly aggressive corner cut by the outside horse/rider....the kind of move that could get a jockey on the trailing horse hurt from a fall.
I'll assume these guys regulate themselves pretty well, and if someone needs a punch in the face it might be based on an accumulation of potentially dangerous acts and a failure to get the message to knock it off.
I will say that if I bet a front runner and Paco/Saez are riding, they usually do a darn good job of making it hard for others to pass them late.

$1000 fine seems like less than a slap on the wrist for punching a fellow competitor. Suspension and much heftier fine should be levied and enforced.

much rather they fight it out and settle it with their feet on the ground then taking it out to the track...

much rather they fight it out and settle it with their feet on the ground then taking it out to the track... How racing has changed. Notice the comment in the derby replay......"he's riding him into the rail, which is permissible under racing rules".....now they barely brush and stewards will look at it for five minutes and take a horse down. Also nearing the wire here one jock is trying to pull the boot out of the stirrup while the other is trying to pull the jock out of the saddle, whipping the jock after the wire. Different time, different rules.
