Hi Hugh.. on a previous thread you mentioned that you worked in television. I'd be interested in learning more. There's no Business like Show Business! :-)

Badactor,
Yes I did work in television. Everything I did was behind the camera and worked in television for about 10 years. I left because the salary was not that good unless you were on air talent.
That is not to say that it was a horrible job - just the opposite. I was able to expand my knowledge by working in areas that I was not tasked with. I worked camera for the local news, on the set and off. I worked in lighting, sound and at the center of a television station, Master Control which is the place where one controls what is placed on-air such as commercials or switching to another program or to the network.
I started out at a PBS station where after earning my wings, I produced a one hour show that spotlighted a local Blues Festival which had John Lee Hooker, Brian Lee, and Downchild Blues Band (Whom the Blues Brothers give credit to for one of the songs on their album).
Later I went to an ABC affiliate where I worked camera for the local news, the Noon Show, and Bozo the Clown which was a weekly program licensed to this station. I met many celebrities there including Red Skelton and George Burns. I also had the opportunity to work camera for the network when a Presidential Library was opened, and President Reagan, Bob Hope and foreign dignitaries came to town.

I did not know that Spanky - sorry I stepped on your toes. I thought you had your own league you were trying to find someone for.

Thank you for the excellent response, Hugh! It's great to have you as a member of UpInClass. I loved Bozo... watched all the time when I was a kid. Had my tonsils taken out in the hospital when I was a 7yo. and shared a room with an older boy (maybe 9 or 10). He was a fan of the original Batman TV Show with Adam West. "I'm too old to watch Bozo. Give you a dollar to change the channel." That's the day i became a fan of the Dynamic Duo. Still loved Bozo, though. Thank you, Hugh, for helping to create some wonderful childhood memories!
ATTENTION TO ALL PRODUCER TYPE-TYPE$ ON THIS FORUM: Let's make a movie! I believe we have all the pieces of the puzzle. Director: TW Griffith or Harry Spielberg. Cinematographer: Hugh. We'll need a script. Mr. Hendry likely has a story or two to tell. Spanky asks showbiz questions all the time, so he gets executive producer credit (Craft Services).

My dream would be to write or collaborate on a movie or TV script. Everyone has stories of all kinds but I think if my brother (who has been a part of all these stories) and I could sit with some talented writers we could come up with something deserving to put into production. Think Cohen brothers or maybe Scott brothers. OK, it's a dream as I said. Where are the Newton'[s when I really need them?
