www.racingpost.com/racecards/1231/meydan/2021-02-18/778336R2- 5f Meydan Sprint (Group 2) (Turf) (3yo+)#5- Lazuli (2-1) couldn't handle A'ali at Sandown in July, but defeated Equilateral in a GIII at Newbury in final 2020 tilt. Equilateral exacted revenge last time in the Dubai Dash (Listed) as Lazuli had a slow start and was in tight between rivals for a bit. Expecting improvement today for Appleby/Buick/Godolphin, should be right there. #6- Waady (5-1) 9yo still has Group form on dirt and turf, won this event last season over Equilateral, gets blinkers-on and reunites with jockey Crowley. #1- A'ali (5-2) has five wins from ten starts including GII wins as a 2yo and 3yo. Went wrong at the Curragh in September, reappears today in a logical spot. Gets Frankie to bail from Equilateral, but have to believe he could need this race. #3- Equilateral (5-2) has a sterling record over C&D, but think he was fully cranked last time to go back-to-back, mission accomplished, anything else at the Carnival would be gravy. EX- 3,6/1,3,6 R4- 1m1½f UAE Oaks (Group 3) (Fillies) (Dirt) (3yo)#5- Mnasek (3-1) won handily on debut by seven, then ran second to super-filly Soft Whisper in UAE 1000 Guineas (that one is headed to Saudi Derby) after spotting the field five lengths at the start. Rider change to stable jockey Pat Dobbs today, Empire Maker-filly should stretch out in distance with aplomb. #4- Last Sunset (2-1) is the Godolphin entry with Frankie aboard, was second by two-and-a-half to Soft Whisper on dirt in Guineas prep, then second on turf in prep for Meydan Classic last out. Runs well on all three surfaces, not sure that dirt will be her best, however. #7- Super Chianti (6-1) seems logical underneath following third in the Guineas, Watson's "other" horse, this one for N.A. based owner Charlie Fipke. EX- 5/4,7 R5- 1m Zabeel Mile (Group 2) (Turf) (3yo+)Stretchouts, turnbacks, dirt-to-turf. #1- Art Du Val (9-2) ran a powerful race in the 9F Singspiel S. (GII) here last month, running on but getting passed late by the first three finishers, none of whom return in this event. He should move forward from that effort and could be a handful today for Appleby/Doyle/Godolphin. #5- D'Bai (3-1) has settled in as a 7F specialist, but his mile record is 6/2-1-2, and he shaped as if he wanted more distance last time when a closing second going seven panels in the Al Fahidi Fort (GII). Appleby/Buick/Godolphin, "if the right don't getcha, the left one will." EX- 1,5/1,2,5,6,8 R6- 1m1f Balanchine (Group 2) (Fillies & Mares) (Turf) (3yo+)
#1- Althiqa (5-2) was brilliant last time in the Cape Verdi S. (GII), biding her time in last and powering home under Jamie Doyle. Adds another furlong today, Buick switches to her while Doyle gets #10- Summer Romance (5-1) who ran like a mile might be her limit tiring to fifth behind Althiqa. Using the second and third place finishers #3- Dubai Love (3-1) and #9- Stylistique (6-1) underneath again, and adding #8- Silent Night (10-1) which was fourth while running on at the wire and may go better at the added distance than the other two. EX- 1/3,8,9 Good luck if you play! TW

Lazuli is a non-runner in Race 2. Hypothetical and Golden Goal should go well in the first.

I looked at the BROS PPs on this last night. Basically those PPs are simpyy a list of their races and where they finished - and some showed their odds odd before the start. Not a lot of help. A took a shot at few but i didn't even know what kind of bets were available.
R1 Both favorites Golden & Hyp plus a couple long shots Chifton & Tuz R2 Like Waada 5/1 Crowley (Jockey)was up for the 2 races Waada won so maybe third times a charm again. R3 Trailder Row 4/1 Laast 5 races 5/3-2-0 and the 2 loses were by a nk and a no R4 Last Sunset 2/1 looks too tough R5 D'Bai 3/1 and/or Velorum 7/1

EX- 3,6/1,3,6 Result: 3,7,1 A'ali could never get on terms with the winner, probably needed the race and will move forward next time. Equilateral ($6.20) continues his love affair with Meydan, was always traveling best and ran out powerfully. Gets some extra carrots tonight, should head back to England to prepare for the King's Stand S. (GI) at Royal Ascot. Good sprinter!R4- 1m1½f UAE Oaks (Group 3) (Fillies) (Dirt) (3yo)#5- Mnasek (3-1) won handily on debut by seven, then ran second to super-filly Soft Whisper in UAE 1000 Guineas (that one is headed to Saudi Derby) after spotting the field five lengths at the start. EX- 5/4,7 Result: 5,6,4 Mnasek ($4.80) broke with the field today and they were all running for second place thereafter. Very impressive win franks the form of Soft Whisper, how good might that one turn out to be? Saudi Derby is Saturday, stay tuned.R5- 1m Zabeel Mile (Group 2) (Turf) (3yo+)Stretchouts, turnbacks, dirt-to-turf. Appleby/Buick/Godolphin, "if the right don't getcha, the left one will." EX- 1,5/1,2,5,6,8 Result: 5,9,1 Fantastic finish with seven of them within about a length on the wire. Art Du Val took over turning for home but his lead was always slowly shrinking and he got passed in the final 100m. Courageous effort from winner D'Bai ($5.20) which sat half-a-dozen lengths behind a very soft pace (26+ opening quarter) and stormed home to just get the nose in front. R6- 1m1f Balanchine (Group 2) (Fillies & Mares) (Turf) (3yo+)
EX- 1/3,8,9 Result: 10,9,1 Summer Romance (6-1) set a slow pace and suddenly opened up a big lead turning for home, too much for the others to overcome. Althiqa made her late run but had far too much to do from ten lengths behind.
Good luck if you play! TW
