R5 All Eyes West 5/2 Will be first start for the Saffie barn who has won 33% with last 200 “1st after claim”.
R6 Devil's Tower 10/1 Droping into MC . He's got speed and could carry it all the way against these, Roman Pharoah 9/2 Duplicate history with Tower except retains his trainer.
Pizza Charlie 9/5 after only one race is not a good choice. First time starters Skywave 9/2 and Mega Charlie 3/1 have just as good a chance. I think I'll use Mega.
R7 Tempt Fate 8/1 If he wins then I'll explain why it took him. Captain Don 7/2 Was very competitive last year until sent back to the farm. Expect him to be in form for this. BeBop Shoes 5/2
R8 Undine 9/2 Crown Jewel 2/1 Misty Blue 6/1
R9 Yes I Am Free 5/2 Mai Ty One On 6/1 Jackson 9/2

R6 I like #1 Roman Pharoah as well as the #6 (Appraisal) and #5 Stud Puppy as longshots.
Other longshots for the day (although this kind of card I suspect there will be plenty today)play in exotics or w/p/s:
R7 #3 @20-1
R4: #11, #7and #2 look like good longshots
Also do agree about Undine in R8, like this one.

Race 4 and 7: none of my long-long shots did squat. Race 6 Appraisal won @6-1 6 $15.00 $7.00 $4.40 Nice play on Tempt Fate, he got bet down too far due to being best speed at the distance, hottest jock at Oaklawn riding, and the bullet work at Oaklawn. Wasn't going to go unnoticed w/the oaklawn gang.

Well he won - but not a lot - so here goes. Circa 2005 I was in the Orleans in Vegas for the big contest and noticed Carl Deville who I never heard of before, had entered I first time starter in a race that was not a maiden race. I mentioned it to my friend from Ky and he told me that if Carl Deville is the trainer the horse has already had 2 or 3 races under his belt already. He said there are a lot of small half mile tracks in Louisiana where the owners get together and race their two year olds and bet on them with each other. I didn't think the horse had a chance so I didn't put him on the ticket. He won and paid over $30.00. Now when I see Deville's name I look at the PPs to see if there was anything unusual in it. A saw that 2.5L race that was strange enough for me.
