ESPN
Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale (owner of Runhappy), a Houston furniture store owner who is known for making giant sports bets, has placed the largest wager on Super Bowl LV so far -- $3.46 million on the under dog Tampa Bay Buccaneers at +3.5.
McIngvale flew into Colorado Springs on Wednesday, logged on to the DraftKings mobile betting app from the airport and placed one of the largest bets ever on the Super Bowl. After paying a little extra in juice (-127) to get the Bucs at +3.5, McIngvale would win $2.72 million if Tampa Bay covers the spread.

and this....
This year, customers at McIngvale's store who spend $3,000 or more on a new mattress will get their money back if the Buccaneers beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
What kind of f'n mattress costs more than $3K?

What's the issue with a true gambler and businessman? In texas, it is illegal to place a phone wager with an out-of-state wagering outlet. I have occasionally bypassed this by turning off location services before I open the out-of-Texas wagering apps. To avoid any conflict, the man did the major wager legally for the small price of a plane ride.
If the Bucs win(and I hope that they win), I assume that the write off of the mattress sale will seriously outweigh the cost of the mattress costs.
Maybe a few of you would sleep better if you upgraded your mattresses and stopped belittling serious gamblers/businessmen?

I'm not belittling anyone one in this thread. Thought it was an interesting story as a horse owner related topic. I like Mack. Don't transfer your interpretation of my post to your reality. Sleep tight.

More than a year after it passed the legislature, online Sports gambling finally became legal in Michigan just before the conference playoff games. I signed up with Twinspires as I have had a mostly positive experience with their horeseracing site. I was required to put a location software on my laptop, and I cannot bet when I am physically outside of Michigan, not sure of the logic, but I guess that is standard. I think if I disabled it and they couldn't verify my location, then I would not be permitted to use it. Oddly, I can bet horse races out of state with no problem on Twinspires.

Obviously too harsh, and not pointed your way hooper... just trying to explain the business logic possibly behind the action
and what shoes mentioned about gambling over state lines
shoes--I visit texas often, and try to wager on Twinspires from there often I get the message that the wager cannot be made(mostly on my phone) yes--I have turned off location services on another pc before signing in to twinspires, and have been able to make wagers dont know the technical aspects and would think that wagering would not be possible
all good--I often come on more seriously here than intended(understatement?)
as one of my idols, the immortal Foghorn Leghorn used to say--"It's a joke, son".
——————- Evidently Mac doesn’t have a good record with these large wagers Lost a mil last year on tenn vs kc and 13 mil on the astros a while back Hoping that he gets this one right
Nice article out there on Pete axthelm for those of you who remember him My kind of guy back then.........

So, did everybody get their free $3000 mattresses?
2.7 million is going to fund a lot of rebates. gutsy bet.
Who do you think will sleep better tonight? All those with $3000 mattresses or McIngvale?

Evidently Mattress Mac has opened his Houston stores to those needing a place to sleep in the storm, and is giving out blankets. And Runhappy has finally sired a couple of decent runners....

Houston has big problems with the weather now...as much of Texas does. Dallas is freaking out. 9:00 am here...4 degrees. A couple of feet of snow.
