R3- 1m2f Zabeel Turf (Listed Handicap) (Turf) (3yo+ 90-104)
Eight Godolphin runners out of a field of fifteen, four each for trainers Charlie Appleby and Saeed bin Suroor. #1- High End (6-1) is a 7yo with seven career starts. Showed promise as a 3yo, then went to the shelf for three years before reappearing in good form last summer, including a good second in a Listed handicap at Goodwood. Frankie rides for bin Suroor, gamble will be whether the horse takes to the Meydan turf course (horses seem to either run well on it or not, and it isn't just the soft-ground types that dislike it). Also giving away substantial weight to other contenders. #7- Star Safari (9-2) is a 5yo with four career tries, winning twice. Won over C&D last February, unsighted since. William Buick aboard for Appleby. #11- Passion and Glory (12-1) gets Harry Bentley aboard for bin Suroor, so you might suspect this isn't his best entrant, but I'm not so sure. Hasn't raced in 15 months, but had a highly-rated win at Doncaster in a Class 3 handicap when last seen. Just missed on debut in a key Novice race, so a threat if ready today. The one I really fancy is #12- Al Maysan (8-1) for Appleby, with Jim Crowley up. 4yo son of Dubawi rang up two wins in as many AW starts last January before the lockdown, then ran four times at Newmarket in quick succession, winning once and running a good fifth in a Heritage handicap, showing progressive form with each test. Faces elders for the first time but has a solid foundation. Price should be right.
WIN- 12 EX- 7,12/1,7,11,12

R4- 1m Cape Verdi (Group 2) (Fillies & Mares) (Turf) (3yo+)
Choice is for #1- Althiqa (7-2) with Appleby/Doyle at the controls for Godolphin, who have five of the nine entrants. Never missed the board in seven starts, with the last three being close-up finishes in G3 contests. Length defeat to One Master at Goodwood points her out. #2- Dubai Love (6-1) won the UAE 1000 Guineas on dirt here a year ago, turf tries have been just okay. Distance seems her best. #3- Last Look (8-1) is undefeated in three career outings, but hasn't seen a racetrack in 17 months. Has every right to contend if still at the same level. #7- Stunning Beauty (7-2) is Frankie's mount for bin Suroor. Two open length wins in two tries going a mile against Novice company, so this is a big step up, but is clearly a talented filly. #9- Summer Romance (5-2) appears to be the class of the field, winning a G3 at Epsom in between G1 drubbings at Newmarket and Deauville. Expensive daughter of Kingman is a bit of a puzzle, and will be overbet here (until she wins by five...lol).
WIN- 1

R6- 1m (Handicap) (Turf) (3yo+ 90-105)
Sixteen runners, with four reserves. Only four for Godolphin, so maybe someone else can break through in this heat. #4- Cap Francais (7-1) gelded son of Frankel has clearly found his element dropping back to a mile. Needs to bring A-game but in with a chance. Speaking of, #8- Chance (10-1) showed good form in three 2020 starts, also needs his best but shows up more often than not. #13- Dubai Mirage (10-1) was progressive in 3yo campaign last year, distance suits, and he ran a courageous fifth in the Cambridgeshire Hcp when last seen. Expect that there is more to come from this one. Throw in the two highweights as well in exactas.
W/P- 13 EXBOX- 1,2,4,8,13
Good luck with your wagers!

Hope you bet an exacta Dell! Ya Hayati was a course winner in his only previous start at Meydan, and had been gelded since his last race. Took a ton of early money, it was 6-1 at one point. Bright Melody has been a bit of an underachiever, maybe he just needed to mature a bit.

Thanks Dell. Boy, for a little filly Althiqa ($10.60) sure has a big run in her. Swooped home from last while ducking in a bit. Never a doubt at the top of the stretch, that was fun! Jamie Doyle said they'll probably bring her back in three weeks, going up to 9F in the GII Balanchine S. I'm looking forward to that.

Flying dismount forthcoming! That was very, very impressive by Soft Whisper, despite the lack of competition.

If there is a better ambassador for the sport of racing, I'm not sure who it is. Jumps off the winner with flair, jokes with the groom, chats up the clerk of the scales, says hey to the winner's enclosure usher, gives a well thought out discussion of the winner in a personable interview afterwards, then lifts the trophy plate to the heavens at the presentation. Don't hurry him off the stage just yet, he'll be sorely missed when he retires.

Dell, you do know that you can basically change all ten of your Godolphin Stable every week and more or less blanket the card. That’s what everyone else is doing !
