Ran a 77 Beyer, 90 Equibase as a 2 year old, so there was some early talent there. You know something about DV?

And.....they're off! My big money claim Control Group ran in Mondays 4th at Aqueduct... after a bad first showing and a scratch (or two?) "patiently kept watch on the front runners from the pocket....grinding his way to victory in the final jump"... winning $24,200!
Karate Hottie was supposed to run but scratched....
Quick math raises stable total for to $30,524...its progress!

First time I had heard of him was Oct 24 when he won back to back $150,000 races at Belmont. Maggie interviewed him if memory is correct. Claimed Breezy in Oct,he never ran higher than EQ 80 last year. Since the claim 109 and 115. Jumps out at me for some reason.

He's been the little guy trainer for years. Thought he was a decent rider when he was an apprentice and stopped riding a few years later and started to train. Took him 12 years to win a stake and 30 minutes to win his second stake. His dad is trainer Freddy Velazquez, so he's been around horses all his life.
If everything is on the up and up, Breezy has the story that makes sense. Promise at 2, but a bad start in a stake in December put him on the shelf for 6 months. 2020 had 4 starts and a a lot going on which didn't work. Duels into a 44 2/5 half off the layoff in June and tires. DeMasi wants to try turf, so they go to Penn and the race washes off, but he wins anyway. Turf at Parx fails where he's a close 5th....and then the suspicious drop to the 25k claimer where Danny picked him up. Took him 3 months to get things right and back to the track where he's been outstanding.

In a much less interesting post, Smirk ran 3rd in Pen's 11th last night earning $1804. Claimed by Kravets which, in bygone days, would have been an improvement but these days going Ness to Kravets, not so much.
Lady of Luxury 2 1 0 0 $36,720 Go Poke the Bear 1 0 0 0 $260 Smirk 3 1 1 1 $17,604 Shane Zain 3 1 0 0 $14,520
Total $69,104

Jumps like that are always interesting. Nice claim.

Hoop, I can see the concern there. Still ran 5 3/4 in his second lifetime start as a 2yo for a different trainer. Time will tell if there are any post-race positives to show up.

2020 Dr. George Maylin, the director of the New York Equine Drug Testing Programs, has confirmed the presence of IOX-2, a small molecule synthetic doping agent and a threat to both human and equine sport, in a pair of Standardbred horses racing at Yonkers Raceway. IOX-2 is a blood and gene doping agent that Dr. Maylin warned attendees about at the annual ARCI conference in Arcadia, California. The New York horseracing lab is believed to be the first–either in horse racing or the worldwide WADA network of testing labs–to screen for and confirm the presence of IOX-2, an IHF stabilizer that can trigger EPO-like effects as well as overall stimulation of an athlete. “Unfortunately IOX-2 is just one doping agent and we are not naive to believe that others are not finding their way into professional sport. Whether it be a racing lab or a WADA lab, we share a common mission and can never let our guard down. Today, it's IOX-2, tomorrow it's going to be something else. Horse racing is blessed to have experts like Dr. Maylin in our regulatory network.”
2021 Post Race Testing The substances on the Drug Testing List are separated into two categories: “Mandatory” and “Recommended”. In 2021, there are 166 unique substances classified as Mandatory and 20 as Recommended. For substances that are labeled as “Mandatory,” (denoted as M21 on the accompanying Drug Testing List) testing is required to be performed to detect those substances. The Recommended designation (denoted as R21 on the accompanying Drug Testing List) serves notice that the substance may be upgraded to Mandatory when the Racing Medication and Testing Consortium performs its annual review and update of the list in 2021 for calendar year 2022. Testing for Recommended substances is encouraged, but not required.
Regards, Jason Servis Jorge Navarro

Sadly, two surprise runners Friday with both Italian Justice and La Negrita both dueling the lead (in respective races) before swinging wide into the stretch and fading badly to finish 5th, 16+ lengths back....ughhh! Showing no form at all this year and neither has been claimed... Italian Justice earns $197 phfft LA Negrita earns $1,120 Stable total $31,841... gonna need about 100 starts per horse to compete this year :-)

Heirloom Kitten was able to win by a very short nose in race 6 at Aqueduct on Saturday, thereby adding $30,250 to his 2021 earnings. His first race this year was for a claiming price of $25K. Yesterday's win was at the $32K level and he was once again claimed. It is interesting to speculate at what level he will be entered next since the $25K race in January provided some much needed class relief after being rather soundly defeated last summer and fall at the open NW1X allowance level.

San Antone.....Interested to see if he sits out jail and puts him back in for 25k or whether he goes for the 40k claimer on 3/19 or even the n1x/OC62.5, likely with the tag if he does it on 3/20.
62,500 it is on 2/28 at Laurel in the OC62500/n1x. His last out Beyer fits the condition and they're wheeling him back off the claim 13 days later. Sounds like a potential train wreck, but I hope my stable's least favorite trainer knows what he's doing here.

End of February totals
Noble Contessa - 3-0-2-0 $15,020 Heirloom Kitten - 2-2-0-0 $50,600 Lovely Lady Lexi - 1-1-0-0 $21,450 Two Thirty Five - 2-1-1-0 $32,800 Total so far $119,870
Noble Contessa's last effort on February 21 at Santa Anita was troublesome. She was in contention until the quarter pole and then faded badly to finish 5th. Worse yet the claim was voided by the vet. Probably will not appear in an entry list any time soon.
