Forty years ago, on 8 December 1980,
the former Beatle John Lennon was shot dead
as he returned to his home at the Dakota apartment building in New York.

Everybody's talking and no one says a word Everybody's making love and no one really cares There's Nazis in the bathroom just below the stairs Always something happening and nothing going on There's always something cooking and nothing in the pot They're starving back in China so finish what you got
Nobody told me there'd be days like these Nobody told me there'd be days like these Nobody told me there'd be days like these Strange days indeed -- strange days indeed

My brother says he remembers he was watching tv with our Dad when the news broke of Lennon's death. I was not home, most likely I was in some bar, I don't recall which one. Bro said he recalls Dad saying something about Lennon being a hippie and that he was sorry Lennon got shot. I was a hippie so while my Dad never got the whole hippie thing, he did understand getting shot in the back nobody deserved. I recall the look on Dads face when we were watching Don Kershmers rock concerts and he saw Alice Cooper for the first time...lol...

John's second son Sean was very much involved in Gimme Some Truth, the remixing of John's work, a selection from which hoop shared above. I may have to buy this because all of the cuts I have heard sound fantastic.I heard along radio interview with Sean about the project and other subjects. It was very interesting. Sad, but it's great for Sean to show his love for his Dad and his legacy in this way.
I also follow John's first son Julian.. I think he has done some very good things musically. He is working on mixing some new material right now. I also very much enjoy his photography. It is also great that Julian and Sean seem to have a good relationship when that very easily might not have been the case, given their circumstances.
