Oh boy. DRF.
"Richard Grunder, the Tampa race-caller since 1984, is back for his 37th season in the announcer’s booth".

TAM 3rd- Uninspiring bunch of bottom-rung maidens starts off the turf season at Tampa. Absence of top jockeys other than Camacho seems to affirm that a sundial may be needed for timing purposes, but still, somebody has to cross the wire first. #1- Handsome Effort (7-2) has four turf tries under his belt, including a third-place finish sprinting here in June. He also finished fifth sprinting on debut at GP behind Campanelle , who subsequently won the Queen Mary S. (GII) at Royal Ascot, and then fifth again going two turns at ELP against Abarta, who was second in the Bourbon S. (GII) at KEE. Got rained off the turf twice, then most recently ran up the track in a dirt sprint when dropped to a claimer for the first time. Drops again today, picks up Camacho, and might just be better than the rest of these on turf, but this is the kind of horse you're supposed to bet against. #3- Flipping Fun (5-2) m/l favorite is not a turf horse, says me. Bet against. #6- Vet's Gift (20-1) tries the lawn for the first time, has some turf pedigree. Stretches out, get blinkers, jockey change, drops to the bottom. Stranger things have happened. #7- Top Bomb (6-1) ran second on his debut sprinting on the grass, then went right to the dirt for four poor efforts (last two were rained off the grass, however). He has a Ballydoyle/O'Brien pedigree top and bottom; sire Hit It a Bomb was the BC Juv Turf winner in 2015. Not sure about the connections, but maybe the horse can outrun their limitations. Using. #9- Ramses (6-1) seems like the better of the two Harty entries. Godolphin product was gelded after first start, an even effort in a dirt sprint. Dam was stakes-placed on grass for Kiaran McLaughlin, finished her career as a quality 7F dirt horse, winning Barbara Fritchie S. (GII) at LRL. Harty always runs better second time out, this one should have a good chance if it takes to the grass. Jockey Burgos' last turf win was in September at GP, so enthusiam dampened somewhat.
EX- 7/All Result: 1,7,4 Top Bomb ran a nice outside stalking trip, surged to the front in mid-stretch, only to be run down by Handsome Effort ($7.20) in the last two jumps. 83-1 longshot finished just behind the two of them in the photo.

TAM 5th- #1- Praetorian (8-1) gets Centeno in the irons, runs for Tampa newcomer Jon Arnett, perennially a top trainer at PRM. No turf course there however, so have to think he's trying to wake this one up for a turf-to-dirt move next out. Might not be in his barn after today, however. #2- Skippy's Strike (9-2) runs for another new face, trainer Kerri Raven, who raced at CBY this summer and did okay with limited stock. She kept this IA-bred fit with two interim dirt starts, now reunites with jockey Butler who knows him well. Natural speed, should be forwardly placed. Can get a piece. #6- Can't NO POLITICS Kitten (4-1) is a consistent sort, is 6/3-1-1 at the distance. Training well at PMM, no surprise with a good effort today. #7- D'craziness (5-2) has high-percentage connections in owner Averill, trainer Baxter and jockey Camacho. Likes the distance, has the preferred running style for this trip, should be right there at the finish. #10- Fade Away (10-1) is interesting, all three career wins coming at TAM. Consistent type, off-the-pace finisher, we'll see how jockey Burgos does with a wide draw.
EX- 6,7/6,7,10 Result: 8,6,7 Can't NO POLITICS Kitten and D'craziness both closed strongly into the moderate pace, but Threeohtwocassie ($39.20) got the jump on them and held sway to the wire.
TAM 7th- #3- My Sister's Keeper (9-2) did well turf sprinting at MTH this summer for Dini/Gallardo, should have a say if she fires first out off a short break. #4- Catsoutofthebag (5-1) looks like she's being turned into a stalking turf sprinter by Dini, last effort notwithstanding. My jockey-crush Tomas B. Mejia (hey, Dell has Hector) rides again, has won twice with her. Expecting good things. #5- Bustin Hearts (7-2) goes first off the Carrasco claim (25%), gets Pablo in the saddle. Moves back up in class in good form, can get some. #8- Sethamee Street (5-1) is interesting for Galvan/Burgos. Only turf race was a sprint win two back in N1X at DEL. Drawing a line thru last, a sloppy non-effort. LA-bred daughter of Street Sense has some talent, not out of this.
EX- 3,8/3,4,5,8 Result: 4,3,9 Mejia broke Catsoutofthebag ($15.20) from the gate running, stalked the leader into the stretch through sharp fractions and had enough left to hold off the challengers. Burgos got dumped by his mount just after the start.

Keep in mind the 2 year olds will be racing without Lasix. Those coming from Wo, Mth, Prm will be Lasix off.
Open Day race 2 top two ML choices are lasix off...
I'll go with a firster Absorbed. no terrible works, and dam/siblings were competitive at 2. Trainer is 1.5% with first timers, which should keep the odds up, also is 28% ITM with a bunch of 2nd/3rds. I think that evens out a bit today.
Race 3 favorite is lasix off and 2nd choice ran on it 2 back, but not last time and not for his better turf tries. They both look like much the best on paper, probably a spread race given the lasix off issue. I'll include Top Bomb getting back on turf, Deft Blue who is well bred and Harty is way better 2nd out & Highly Noted who showed a little pep 2 and 3 back, but was originally entered for turf in his first 3 race, but rained off and maybe Vets Gift off Tom's post above.

TAM 9th- #4- Mijet (3-1) will likely try to steal this under Camacho, #7- Skol Chant (4-1) should chase for Stidham/Diaz, but I'll try #9- Lake Parima (9-2) former Clement charge now under Sweezey's control, but still for Waterville Lake Stable. She should take a forward step today, getting a nice stalking trip under Burgos, who is 3-for-5 recently for the trainer. Front bandages duly noted.
EX- 9/All Result: 7,9,2 Burgos went right to the front with Lake Parima after the scratch of Mijet, maybe went a little too fast through a second quarter in 24 flat, still had a lot left but Skol Chant ($9.80) wore her down late.

RACE 9 If she scratches into the race,
my filly looks bad on paper... 50 days off and 20-1 on the line, a win would be quite the caper... But they don't run races on the page. The runners have to take the stage... and when they do and if she does, I'll be ecstatic because, because
she's my Little Ms Broadway.
