The $2 format was leaving a lot of holes and it seemed like the CRW computer betting people were somehow able know the uncovered combos and play them. $2 format was a very unfair wager for the little guy.
5/6 payouts create churn which should be good for them, no idea why they would get rid of that.

I think that churn only works for them when you have a player that only plays the major track running in California. Since all the money is from off track, that payout could be bet anywhere. Their statistics probably show that the larger the carryover, the higher the pool is the next day over the normal non-carryover pool and decided to maximize profits that way.

Interesting. So it’s essentially the same as the other jurisdictions but with a $.50 base as opposed to a $.20 base. I wonder why no one has gone Keeneland’s way of a traditional p6 with a $1 base?
