Any comments on today’s 3rd at Saratoga? First time Asmussen 3YO Wins by 11 and goes 21.2, 43.4, 107.4 and 114.2 for 6 1/2. Track was pretty quick, but still...

0.74 sec off Quality Road’s track record for 6 1/2f.
Asmussen’s usually improve second time out too...
Wins the BC Juvy sprint next out?

91 Beyer which is 41 points off of the raw number for that time. At least they were consistent with that variant from the few races I looked up. He was impressive against absolutely nobody. He beat a first time starter, a Chad off the layoff runner and a 30 claimer...and neither of those 2 could keep up in a 46 and change half before. They went 44.41 and 44.64 respectively (Trakus) chasing the winner.
He's one to keep on your list with the hopes you can bet against him next out.

doh LOL could have swore that was a 2 year old race.... much less impressed now. wouldn't ever look to bet against a 2nd time out Asmussen horse though...
I thought the Thistledown card was more interesting yesterday anyway, although not many agreed. Their late pick 5 was scooped on a single $54 ticket and only paid $4,107.55

My brother has a liquor store customer flying to Sin City today so he asked him if Spanky had a winner for the Derby. I told Lou to text him to look at UIC for any info he needs!

Track is playing very fast again today. $20,000 maiden claimers went half under .45 in a quick 6 1/2 furlong race. Granted, the first two finishers sold for $350k and $175k .

7 on thorograph... solid first out number, but nothing to get really excited about for a 3 year old...

From the Equibase chart. NASHVILLE set the pace from the outset, was off the rail into the lane, widened down the lane and romped the field with ease. WinStar has another stallion on their hands,Speighstown is now 22. Replay link from Keeneland,R5 today. www.keeneland.com/racing/race-replay

Professional race today. Sprint field with no speed and he looked good doing what he should have against this group. 6+ in front after a 45 second half won't happen against the good graded stakes sprinters. He's lucky he won't have to face former stablemate Volatile.

Two conflicting thoughts today folks. Nashville will be offered as a racing or stud prospect at Keeneland November, but I was told via an unknowledgeable source that he is not being sold. Does anyone know which one it is?

Does anyone know which one it is? TDN. From the GM at WinStar, David Hanley, on Monday. Hanley indicated that if they decide against a run in the Sprint, Nashville could make an appearance in one of the undercard stakes on Breeders’ Cup weekend as a steppingstone to the GI Malibu S. at Santa Anita in late December. Nashville is cataloged as a racing or stallion prospect for the Keeneland November Sale, but Hanley said it is unlikely he’ll go through the ring.

Right decision not to run in the Sprint or Dirt Mile.

I agree, but was it their decision or did he not make it in?

He was in either if they wanted to run. Probably a good long term decision, but also may never be as sharp as he is now. I would have had a hard time passing.

Sounds like it wasn't an easy decision. What I read on Monday. Paulick.
Nashville wore his Sprint towel Sunday. The colt also is pre-entered in the $2 million Big Ass Fans Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) and is nominated to Saturday's Perryville on the Breeders' Cup undercard. Elliott Walden, President/CEO and Racing Manager for WinStar, said no decision had been made regarding Nashville's next race. “Everything's on the table.” Walden said. “He's an extreme talent. He's only 3. He's only run twice. It seems like a big ask to run against the accomplished sprinters that he would have to run against. Not that he wouldn't be capable.

How was he given priority over others in the Sprint with only a maiden and allowance win? I'm trying to recall a non-juvenile runner with only two races. Can't think of any off the top of my head.

www.breederscup.com/article/breeders-cup-entry-system-explainedWinners of BC challenge races and leading points earners will make up half the field in oversubscribed BC races. For points earners to gain automatic inclusion in the body of an oversubscribed BC race, the horse must have a minimum of six points or four points in juvenile races. The panel then will determine the remaining horses in the body of an oversubscribed race and rank the also-eligibles in order of preference.

Would be the first three year old to do so ! 😜 Pretty sure he could have won the Juvy turf sprint (guess they don’t have a juvy dirt sprint anymore) and come back and won the Juvy a couple hours later.

DRF
Nashville, who set a track record in winning the $125,000 Perryville Stakes on the Breeders' Cup undercard Saturday at Keeneland, will step up to Grade 1 company for his next outing, with the Grade 1 Malibu Stakes on Dec. 26 at Santa Anita the most likely target. Walden said that the Malibu at seven furlongs and the Grade 1 Cigar Mile against older horses on Dec. 5 at Aqueduct are both under consideration for Nashville. The more likely spot is the Malibu, where, as in the Perryville, Nashville will face 3-year-olds.

I was thinking why ship out west when they can van to NYC. Plus, the Cigar Mile generally doesn’t get the strongest of Grade 1 fields.
