Brilliant Tim , so why didn’t you have Fried Rice King on Sunday ?
Do we export Arkansas rice to China ? That would be really cool.

I was surprised to discover that all of the watermelons at The Watermelon Festival just outside Duncan, Oklahoma... were imported from Arkansas.
What other crops do you grow?

Thanks for the responses. To Bev.... I used my last pick on Saturday. China is the largest producer of rice but they still imports some from other Pacific rim countries. They did buy some a year ago just as good faith gesture with the last trade agreement. Some of our biggest buyers are in the Middle East. Mexico and Europe are normally buyers also. To Dell.... Here is a link to Arkansas Farm Bureau's data on Arkansas Rice... Other items grown in Arkansas listed on left margin. Including watermelons of 1600 acres valued at $5 M. As for our operation...(my brother and I).... we farm rice, soybeans and corn (although we did not plant corn this year). We grew up raising cotton as our main crop but the land we farm now is more suited to rice. We also used to raise catfish but the economics tanked about ten years ago. To Spanky... Bless Your Heart !

Very interesting. In the town where I lived Miami (population 300) we had a catfish farm as well. Really cool. I'm 120 miles from Lubbock and they grow a ton of cotton. As a child, I remember my bro and I going with my granddad to pick cotton in Mangum, Oklahoma. Tough work.

I remember my nieces and nephews picking rice at my farm in Scotland. Uncle Bev’s Rice was very popular there.
