What a race, though... One checked badly and two dropped whips!

So I just got off the phone with pony girl and she was unaware of the results of the final race... until I told her just now. Since we play by gentlemen's rules here at upinclass... The lady's word is the lady's word. Interesting conundrum. I'll abide by the ruling of the Chief Steward. I appreciate the sentiment...think Dell should make the wager although I am curious as to what my final total would have been had I played it right to begin with... Also...Tom had suggested giving me the favorite if a new selection wasn’t made before post time...what did the favorite do?

Mortal returned $34.80 & $10.60. Favorite ran out. Your total would have been $90.00.
Dell, you have a $24 Otis Special to wager on the Saratoga card today. Good luck!

Just read through this play my play, what a back and forth day! The class of the people in this forum never ceases to amaze me - no sour grapes, just honorable offers to take care of their opponent.... imagine world where everyone, our leaders behaved that way....

Thanks jolyb and Michele. Honestly, I find the racing from Europe much more intriguing than U.S. racing right now, and I figure maybe others feel the same, so why not drum up some interest in better racing with a contest (all carrot/no stick...lol). I understand that the pandemic has affected the movement of people and horses, but that isn't all of it. The average card at Saratoga has maybe five races that I'm interested in. The rest just...suck. The racing secretary has to write races for the horses on the grounds, but a steady diet of 5 1/2 turf sprints, NYB n1x, and Clm n2L gets mind-numbing pretty quickly. The best race of the meet so far, the first really good field top to bottom IMO, is today's Diana (GI). Only took 29 days.

Tom , you are absolutely right . The European circuit is much more concentrated but thanks to your efforts we have been able to follow our favorites through the summer whether it be Newmarket , Royal Ascot , Goodwood, York or the Curragh. Most enjoyable
