Watched The Killing tonight, great film noir , with a horse racing angle to boot.

STERLING HAYDEN also gives a terrific performance in The Godfather.

At the start the Jay C Flippen character was supposed to bet on every horse in the race . The #11 horse won but he handed in the #8 ticket to the teller . Dell must have been working that day .

Loved The Killing but I haven't seen it recently enough to talk about it very well. need to re-visit it.

Adam Sandler stars in an unusual dramatic role in "Uncut Gems". Co-staring Kevin Garnet. Yes, THAT Kevin Garnet. Multiple NBA All Star. Catch it on NetFlix. Dr. Strangelove is a classic in my book! George C. Scott and Slim Pickens are great in supporting roles.

I completely agree with Spanky on this one, Bev. Definitely worth watching and was surprised Adam Sandler was not nominated for an Oscar in this role. The guy who wrote the review seems clueless. I would encourage others to watch it and determine for themselves whether it is a thumbs up or thumbs down.

Thanks Tony . Seems to me to be similar to The Joker. I have heard people tell me they hated it and others that it’s a must see. Movies are supposed to be entertainment though rather than a vehicle for an actor to win an Oscar.

Definitely thought Joaquin was fantastic in that film and deserved all the accolades.

The late Heath Ledger was by far the best Joker imo. The original J-Man was Caesar Romero. Many Batman and Jokers played over the years. A NEW Batman movie is coming out in 2021 which looks very promising.

I saw Uncut Gems (it may have been the last film I saw at a theater since the theaters shut down). I didn't like it much. It reminded me of Jame's Caan's role in his version of The Gambler, quite a few years ago (I liked that one better). It was hard for me to feel any empathy for Sandler's character, as I didn't see any redeeming qualities in him (he was sorta kind to his mistress I guess though he didn't hesitate to use her and put her in danger.I don't mind tragic heroes with flaws, I appreciate much of film noir, but Sandler was all flaws.
I guess Kevin Garnett was pretty good playing himself.

According to rotten tomatoes website, It appears Uncut Gems was almost universally well received by movie critics but only received a lukewarm rating by audiences. So, it does seem to be a split decision. The professionals loved it. The paying public not so much. www.rottentomatoes.com/m/uncut_gemsThe trend is reversed for Joker. The reviews/ratings of the paying public were more positive than those provided by critics for this Joaquin Phoenix cinematic vehicle. www.rottentomatoes.com/m/joker_2019
