It would appear it may actually happen... a change long overdue. So, let's play a little game of Re-name That Team!
Suggestions? :-)

How about the original cross dressers....name them the Hogs! George Allen would be proud! I think it's total BS on renaming the team. Next up, the Atlanta Braves.

Spanky, you know I was a lifelong fan. I hope you'll reconsider your position. The name is derogatory and racist... can you imagine these team names? The Atlanta Blackslaves; The San Francisco Orientals; Would The Amarillo Brownskins be right?

We will just have to agree to disagree on this one bro...When did we become so sensitive? Where will it end? You can call me a cracker and I assure you I'm not gonna be offended! This is just crazy. I understand that the majority of Native Americans have expressed they are not offended by the Redskin name. Using the n word is never acceptable for sure but Redskins? C'mon... :>)

You can call me a cracker and I assure you I'm not gonna be offended! You would feel differently
if every time they called you
"Cracker," you felt the tearing lash
of a whip across your back.
If "Crackers" were lynched
just for being effing whities... I assure you, my dear friend, you would feel differently.
If "Crackers" were refused service and chased out of town, threatened, killed even... if 'You' were targeted by police and discriminated against at every turn... you'd feel differently.

It is my understanding that the logo, that magnificent Native American Chief, is not at issue... rather, it is the name that is objectionable.
Retain the logo and rename the team: The Washington Nation.

I’m hearing that some ancient Greeks are upset about USC football team being called the Trojans. It might not amount to much but maybe they have found USC ‘s Achilles heel.

Redskins? Chiefs? Indians? Braves? Browns? Titans? Raiders? Buccaneers? 76ers? Cavaliers? Warriors? Celtics? Cowboys? Vikings? Saints? Yankees?
How many are honestly offended by the decades old monikers? Who really decides what is proper? Where does it end? We can no longer live with any of this?
Come on,man.......

Many of my Irish friends want me to start a change.org to get Notre Dame to drop the Fighting Irish tag and replace it with the Literate Irish as an homage to George Bernard Shaw, James Joyce and Oscar Wilde. The Fighting Irish is very stereotypical and does not do justice to that great country . I’m just glad that they’re not called the Cheap Scots.
Personally I find that the Redskins is the only name that I would consider changing . The Indians, Chiefs,Seminoles etc are not in any way offensive.Maybe Americans need to develop a thicker skin. My hometown soccer team in Scotland are known as the Sheep Shaggers and we wear it as a badge of honour. 😜

Sorry... but a little humor may be good here ....are the ancient Greeks offended by the fact their name is used on a condominium brand ? Do your Sheep Shaggers “honor” them by using that brand only ? I generally stay away from politics ...religion....any of these type of subjects.... I remember the quote “Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one but they think each others stink.” ― Simone Elkeles Appears to be true in many ways ....especially in today’s world...

I too, have questioned "Redskins" as a team name (unless it would be for the University of Idaho). However I have also heard of the polls (whose accuracy I cannot confirm), that actual Native Americans, by a large majority, do not object, and that, for that matter, they prefer "Indians" to the more politically correct "Native Americans." Again maybe those are valid studies, maybe not. Otherwise I do think to me, it seems offensive. I do not think however that our standard for anything should be if any one, or very few are offended, that things must be changed. There is a university in Michigan (Eastern Michigan University) that used to be the Hurons, to pay tribute to a tribe that was once prevalent in the area (Lake Huron also originates from them), but they changed it a few years ago when there were objections. Central Michigan University still goes by the Chippewas, another once local tribe. How about the Washington Lobbyists?

LOL at Otis (Bill)....It appears to me the swamp is draining. You have a point Mr. Yount but why am I responsible for what happened decades ago? I'm not even sure where the derogatory term cracker came from....lol...

Cracker is not a derogatory term in Florida. I guess you have to know your audience and be respectful of others.

I guess you have to know your audience and be respectful of others. Or you might just find your ass abandoned @ the bus station in Dallas, TX.
by a Cowboys fan who also just happens to be... your bus driver.

Those Trojans threaten that if that post is still online for more than 4 hours you will be charged for assault with a dead weapon.

- I believe the term cracker originated as a term for farmers in central Florida. - Shoes, "Eastern Michigan used to be the Hurons...", did the officially change it to the Brick Dix?
- Notre Dame isn't changing until/unless the alumni groups put pressure on or NBC drops their football games.
