ALWAYS about the money. Steven A. Smith...go away. Watching a baseball game is painful. I did get a laugh when one of the fake fans was Bernie of Weekend at Bernie's fame) Also saw one of Rush front man Getty, who is a huge Blue Jays fan. Anyone heard if Rush will ever play again without Neil Pert?

Yes, it's about the money. So what?
Only a few schools/conferences have a product that sells enough ads to support the expensive "bubble" efforts and transport planning involved in avoiding a very contagious virus. Yes, they'll consult their insurers and their attorneys and yes they'll weigh the known and unknown costs against the profits from playing games.
Again...so what?
Aren't we all making these same decisions right now...weighing immediate needs vs an unknown future? Some 80 year olds just wanna see their damn grand kids, and some 18 year olds just want to play with their friends.
Football is indeed just a game and it would be awful to see someone compromise their future health for something trivial...but quite a few of these young men have a lot of people who depend on them to get their "football education" and get drafted into the NFL, where the big bucks are. At some point if enough of these young men, and their financially motivated coaches and schools, make an adult decision to go play the sport they've trained their whole lives for, who am I to complain that it's "all about the money"?
Build the bubble. Get creative. Monitor and adjust. We'll see what happens...my head says it ain't gonna work but my heart says let's get the most motivated people to give it try.

Great post Matt. I still lean towards the opinion that some NCAA athletic programs are not about student-athletes but about $$. I believe we've gone past the point of sanity when the powers to be are thinking of ways to pay their students legally. It's college, get a degree and then play sports. My opinion is that big time NCAA sports is a cesspool. Maybe this will help clean it up but I'm not hopeful. This could be a great separate thread if anyone is willing. Disclaimer: I was a recruited track athlete in the early '70's,cars,cash and "favors" etc....

Indoor 50y and 300y Outdoor 100y and 220y Kid could fly back in the day. Nowadays a partially torn meniscus in each knee keeps me to walking 30-45 minutes a day and golfing with a cart.

Wow- I guess so. I ran cross country which was then 2 miles- think it's 5k now. Toughest workouts we had were repeat quarters, which did help me improve on my relative lack of speed. I always thought that indoor 300 was a neat event from the standpoint of a track fan, which I was.

My son ran the 26 mile thingy in high school. I get tired driving 26 miles. I did throw the 16 pd. shot and discuss in high school although I don't remember much about it...it WAS the 70's ya know. We smoked a lot of dirt weed back then...lol...
