As the only two-time winner at public handicapper, it makes me sad to share this news...
END OF AN ERA We are sad to announce the retirement of Public Handicapper. While the platform is fun and unique, it is 21 years old, and it is showing its age. We are working on a new, modern platform, and when that platform is ready to go, we'll let you know.
Thank you for playing Public Handicapper all these years. It's been a pleasure to run the contests, to have thousands of players, and to get to know handicappers through the site. Most important, it's been great to handicap the best stakes races every week for 21 years with a group of like-minded players.
Once again, thank you for being part of the Public Handicapper community. It's been a great ride!
Sincerely, The horseplayers at publichandicapper.com

I never entered very much, but it was a nice contest platform where anybody could enter for free and it was fun.
Sad to see it go. Hopefully they will update the platform or someone else will come along and create something similar.

This is sad news. I think it was the first on line contest I played.

I sat next to Scott Carson who runs publichancicapper at the HPWS, at the time he mentioned working on a new format/site to update things a bit. Guessing it will be back and better in time for the Derby preps.

I just didn't like that I couldn't pick one horse. If I have a second choice give me that option but not mandatory. It drove me nuts when I liked one horse but otherwise I didn't want to have to play the race.

Agree with Elk on this. I shared a table with Scott the last 2 years at the HPWS and expect to again next March. Actually just received a Christmas card from him today that included a nice picture of most of our table group from 2019! He will bring PH back bigger and better.

I had an email exchange with Scott recently. I asked how the new public handicapper was coming, his response was "The reboot has just started… it’s going to be great!"

For the past several years Publichandicapper held several year long contest. This year they discontinued it to revamp their site. Does anyone know if they will continue their contest. I looked forward every Saturday playing
thanks Ron

New info up on Scott’s Twitter. New name, site, and format looks like it is close to up and running.

They are seeking donations to get it going....this is email they sent...
We have been working hard on the next great free contest site, and its name is Sport of Kings!
However, we were not able to get any large racing organization to fund the site. That means we have been working on the new site without pay, in the hopes that our vision will come true eventually.
So we are asking for your help, via Indiegogo, to support the creation of this new contest website. You'll be helping to create something great, and at the same time you can get perks such as T-shirts and face masks.
Here's how Sport of Kings will be different from PH:
Free PPs for ALL races! Multiple contests running at all times, including daily, weekly, and monthly contests. Mobile optimized so it is easy to play on phone and tablet. Contest picks will not be public until the races close Races will close 3 minutes to post, instead of 1 hour Contests will use the Win-Place format You CAN change your pick anytime before races close. Because this contest will offer free PPs for all races, any financial contribution you can make now will be paid back week after week in our free contests!

Dell, I noticed your name up there. Do you have to be a member of SPORT OF KING? I did not see Paypal option. Thanks
