I just ran across this on Youtube. Because it encompasses the entire racing world it's difficult to argue against horses you've never heard of before. BUT - whoever made this list names his greatest as Silver Charm. Silver Charm? Really? He was indeed a great horse but how could anyone put him ahead of Spectacular Bid? And as great as he was, I can't see anyone putting him ahead of Native Dancer.
I'm sure some of you out there might have a name or two that I didn't remember when posting this, so take a shot if he want.

Forego - How long have you been using that handle? 15 to 20 years ago there was a "Forego" that posted frequently in the ABC Sports Horseracing message board.

Love the Topic. Cozzene was a big fav of mine and loved the Princess Rooney-Eddie D combo. I was at Daylami's race (and Slver Charm's) and it was very exciting. Chatauqua was a revelation.
My immediate reaction to the question posed was Spectacular Bid. And for some reason my next thought (not that he is in top 10) was this guy:

Not the best but a personal favorite was Jacques Who. Famous for being a runner up in 1973 he had 20 starts (yes 20) and finished 2nd 13 times. It was good enough for him to be mentioned as a "sucker" horse in Andy Beyer's book Picking Winners. He eventually went on to find the winner's circle 6 times and finished a lifetime racing record of 117 starts... 6 wins... 24 seconds... 18 thirds... earning 186,740

I've been using the handle since about 2000 or so??? I never was on the ABC message board back then. I started on the Bloodhorse forum they hosted for awhile before it imploded and Dell stepped in and created Upinclass! Thanks Dell!!!

I know anyone can look up the answer to this question but can you answer it without researching it?
What is the name of the first gray to win the Kentucky Derby?

For me the list starts with Silver Charm and Holy Bull no doubt. While I enjoyed racing, grew up in the sport, etc being a college student at UK and being able to spend afternoons at Keeneland with The Bull and Jimmy Kroll in the fall of 94 is what started my passion for the sport. The ride with Silver Charm in 1997 and 1998 is what made the bug stick. Pictures of Charm and his halter are prominently displayed in my living room still today. It’s actually the ONLY involvement in interior design my wife allows....
