I won't say that I never look at these stats, I do, but very cautiously and I usually attach very little weight to them for a few reasons:
1) Sample size. Saying someone is 66 percent beating the spread if we assume the spreads are pretty fairly set, is like saying a penny came up heads 4 times in 6 flips, so I think it has a better chance of coming up heads on the 7th flip. 2) Larger sample sizes dating back more than a season are suspect because the team is different (this can also be true even in the same season). 3) There may be true short term trends say when Barry Switzer was running up the score with his Oklahoma powerhouses, but even in that case the bettors and lines makers catch up and adjust fairly quickly. 4) Short of true inside info (say with respect to injuries, which I am not going to have), I think you pretty much have to look at each game independently, and make your best call looking at things that you feel the odds may not have adequately factored in, such as known injuries (especially to lineman or defensive backs, or expected weather conditions which sometimes get underestimated by bettors.

True enough shoes...having said all that...
nfl teams under the total 5 la chargers tennessee buffalo
The bills have played only 5 games so far this season so trend is 100% if the posted info is correct...I have not checked it. Just not sure under what total is being referenced...team total or game total?
In my view, there is a place for stats based selection but like anything else not easy for many of the reasons you mention.

I agree tc and in re-reading this, I did not meant make light as to what phlierfreak is sharing, and the information is interesting and useful as to part of the whole picture.

Good stuff but at the moment I'm trying to figure out what's happened to my Dallas Cowboys! I've touted the show on FOX sports called Lock It In and while I don't make bets based on the shows comments I do find it to be both entertaining and informative. Google it!
