Maybe no Breeders Cup. TDN. Hooper
The presumed next start for Code of Honor would be in the GI Breeders’ Cup Classic Nov. 2 at Santa Anita, but McGaughey made no such commitments in the Gold Cup aftermath.
“I’ll see how he comes out of it and talk to Mr. Farish as the week goes along and we’ll make up our mind,” McGaughey said. “I’ll possibly give him some time and try and bring him back in the spring. Maybe the [GI] Carter at Aqueduct and the [GIII] Westchester here.”

Makes sense to keep him in New York where the stewards can award him the race. Had no shot in BC Classic.

Another with no shot in the BC races, if he runs...McKinzie.

Certainly didn't seem like McKinzie's best run on Saturday... Still has home field advantage and Baffert in the corner. No shot may be a bit extreme.

I thought he looked really bad in the stretch. Tail started to flash and he seemed stuck in neutral. I definitely will not be backing him so a winner most likely.

Looking at the SA charts for Fri/Sat, there were a crazy # of wire-wire winners. Anything outside of the 2-3 path seemed really bad. Maybe not quite as bad Sunday.
Also took a look at Baffert horses on the past 6 BC's. Not many examples coming in off really off #'s, but the few that did ran poorly. Am. Pharaoh ran 1 point off his top, and Bayern had an off race a few back, but ran well prior to the BC.

I'm not touching any of these...will look elsewhere in the classic.
I'm sure he looks good coming out of the race...it is how he looked during the race that worries me.

Very weak classic field shaping up. I just read Thunder Snow is out also. Not sure if any Euros with dirt breeding plan to come, but this is a great year to do so. Maybe Elate is a big player. Mongolian Groom was very impressive, maybe they need to gun him more often to the lead, he looked strong. His gallop out was amazing.

From DRF. Trainer Bob Baffert on Tuesday said that he has decided to make a switch from Mike Smith, who has ridden McKinzie in all 13 of his career starts. This follows a second-place finish as the odds-on favorite in the Awesome Again Stakes on Saturday at Santa Anita, the colt's fourth second-place finish this year in six starts.

Yeah like that is going to help. They test all horses at the BC, don't they? Btw, here is the current list of possible runners for the BC Classic. www.breederscup.com/contenders/119

Midnight Bisou should try. Not saying she will, but if entered she could win it a decent amount of the time.

Second place in the JCGC has been a good angle for BC classic success in the past. Not sure how it will work on DQ, but if Vino Rosso is somehow 7-2 again like he was in a 5 horse field, that would be my bet against 10-12 slower horses with a lot more to prove at 10F at SA. Not exciting or unusual betting, but this race is pretty formful so no need to be. Would love it if McKenzie and Elate made the gate.

DRF McGaughey was non-committal regarding the Classic immediately after Code of Honor got put up via disqualification in the Jockey Club Gold Cup on Saturday at Belmont Park, but by Wednesday he informed Daily Racing Form that Code of Honor was a go for the Classic.

Does Baffert really have a choice to switch jocks on McKinzie? If Omaha Beach goes, I would think Smith would stay on him anyway. I mean if OB goes, he will be ready, no doubt about that.
