Her name is Stephanie... she's 39 years old, and today I received a telephone call from her. She began by saying she did not want anything at all from me. She only needed to ask a few questions and wondered if I would answer. As we spoke, she listed a few names. Names I recognized... family names. Great-Grandparents... Grandparents... and my mother, by her maiden name. She asked if I remembered her mother. Yes, I remembered her from high school. Stephanie then told me she had done a 23andMe: DNA Genetic Testing & Analysis and the results were 100% that the man she had believed to be her father was, in fact, not. She explained that her search on Ancestry.com revealed that she had a genetic connection to the names she previously shared with me during our conversation... there was a long pause. "I think you might be my biological father" she said. An even longer pause. "We should meet." I said. I drove the 3 hours from Del Mar to Wrightwood, where she lives happily with her husband and two sons. I met her at a park. Just the two of us. We talked for a couple hours. It was wonderful and thrilling to meet her. She sings, of course she sings...
she's my daughter. Isn't life amazing!?! |

Amazing story.

Congrats...must have been a crazy experience to meet.

My two sisters in law have a similar story.
The families just found out. In fact there was a reunion two weeks ago.
I hope both of you develop a loving relationship.

Do a paternity test Dell. 99.9% accurate they say. I have a story like that. Went a party in high school and slept with a gal. Found out later she had slept with another guy that same night. She got pregnant and after the baby was born she claimed the child was mine, as I recall it was because I had a cool car and a pocket full of cash (I was selling weed back then).
Anyway, many years later I found out she had a baby girl. The gal was a cousin of a friend of mine so he kept me updated on the child. Her name is April and the Mom gave her up for adoption. She was 17. Years later I found out that April was adopted by a wealthy family in the Dallas area. While we will never know for sure who the father is, one photo exists and while I have never seen it, friends say it looks like me. I'll always wonder.

 I met Stephanie for dinner this evening. I took my 23andMe DNA test. Spat into a tube, sealed it up and sent it in. Results should be available in a couple weeks. Also, met her husband Mike... a great guy! Still looking forward to meeting the grandchildren. While singing is well represented in the pedigree, I learned she also loves horses... though she's never been to the race track. This calls for a trip to Santa Anita!  |

Meeting tomorrow morning for our first rehearsal together. Photos & Video coming soon... I'm beside myself with joy!
I recorded this a year ago...
Back from the nightmare of Oklahoma, it was an excruciatingly sad time in my life. Thought I was finished.
Turns out that wasn't the case. Turns out happiness was right up the road.
I know I've said it before...
but for goodness sake, you guys & gals at UpInClass
truly saved my life with you kindness and friendship. I'm so proud to share my newly discovered daughter's voice and talent with you wonderful folks! ~ Dell. |

Had my first rehearsal with my daughter, Stephanie Owens, today...
my goodness, she sings like an angel. We're preparing for our Ridgecrest shows in October.
We meet again next week and that's when I get to meet my two grandsons!
I'll post some video of our next rehearsal... LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL! ❤️ |

SANTA ANITA PARK
I'll soon be introducing my daughter & grandsons to my favorite place in the world... The Great Race Place! The Infield comes alive for the last two weekends in October with the Fall Fun Fest.
Bounce Houses, Giant Inflatable Slide, Pony Rides, Pumpkin Painting,
Mini Carnival Games, Hay Ride, Bungee Jump, Train Ride and more!
Plus, a full card of Thoroughbred racing... I'm loving being a Grandpa & Dad!
