Mage ran with a Flair Nasal Strip. They are approved for racing and were released in the late 90's as a way to reduce EIPH (bleeding). I particpated in a study comparing to lasix and know the gentlemen who own and marketed them very well (one a veterinarian). There was a hub-bub regarding them at one time but I think they are universally approved now.
Not sure what you are referring to with the filly?

David, your photographs bring me pure joy! I am just very fortunate to have the opportunity and am more than happy to share. Sorry I didn't take more, but the new paddock had me and my folks quite busy. And there isn't a good place to take a photo in there honestly. I do have a few of some schooling I'll send at some time, including Hit Show.

Lighter colored horses, particularly greys, are susceptible to melanoma for sure. Not certain if sunscreen is recommended but I know they are special covers/blankets, that are sometimes used as sunscreen.
