I thought UIC might get a kick out of these pictures of the latest Amateur Owner Hunter to emerge on the Manitoba horse show scene! First show is May 18. I love the last picture. If he had hands you can almost see him shrugging his shoulders and asking what the hell are you doing down there? Attachments:

It's been great following the story of Katie and Rincon from the race track to the show ring!

Good to see her smiling in that moment. Appears the horse and rider were on different pages. Hooper

First show this weekend and they placed 3rd of 11 in their very first class. Went on to get a 2nd and 3rd in other classes over the weekend. All in all things went very well. It was great fun watching them both learn what it was all about. Now if they just had some way to bet on them....

Thank you for the beautiful photographs... Katie and Rincon look like poetry together. I had the chance to see Rincon run down here in southern California and it is wonderful following the career from the race track to the shows.

Not much money in this hunter business but they do give you lots of pretty ribbons and all the horse crazy girls in the barn absolutely dote on you every second. Life’s not too tough for this old racehorse!

This one will cheer you up no matter what kind of day you are having.
This is Tiz A Cyclone. He is 7 now and was a decent horse around here that Katie looked after while she was grooming. Last spring (2018) he suffered an 80% tear of a tendon and was going to be put down. Katie took him and after a year of stall rest and TLC he is essentially a healthy horse. He won’t run again but who cares.

If I am boring UIC with this horse show nonsense please let me know but I thought I would share Katie and A Wrinkle in Time‘s (Rincon’s showhorse name) results from this past weekend. They were champion low (2’ 3”) hunter over the 2 days as well as placing in open 2’ 6” class. From what I can gather that is quite an accomplishment for a green horse and green rider. Aside from the fact that this is my girl doing this I took great joy from watching a run of the mill racehorse moving on to a second life where he is giving his all for those who love him. I think all involved in this journey have learned something. I will I’ll keep you posted on developments for both Rink and Tiz as they develop. Attachments:

Good for them! Way to go KatieMac, and Rincon!! You are absolutely not boring us, in fact, post even more updates. That picture right there is what it's all about. You must be a very proud dad for all that Katie and Rob are accomplishing. Please keep the pictures coming!

Found this old thread and thought it was time for an update. Hard to believe that Tiz is 9 and Rincon 8 this year. Both Rink and Tiz wintered well and are enjoying the early spring here. Tiz was cleared to begin jumping last summer and he has taken to it really well. He is much more of a natural athlete than Rink is. That being said Rink has been the perfect horse for her as he is calm and mannerly and as long as he gets his donuts he is willing to do just about anything. She moved them to a new place over the winter where they have more room for turnout and a newer barn. If you look on the map and find Domain, Manitoba that’s where they are. Here are the boys in their new spring outfits. Rink is the darker bay and Tiz has the bigger white mark on his forehead. Looking forward to horse shows in 2021!
