Jockey reliability really factors into my handicapping, maybe more than ever. Reliable jockeys: *Prat - He almost ALWAYS puts the horse in best position to win. For me, the #1 jockey when singling in Horizontal bets. *Others - Ortiz brothers usually, Detorri grass, Paco Lopez at smaller circuits, and Kyle Frey is underrated for his opportunistic rides. Also, Tiago Pereria is sharp on an outside post closer; not as much on front running rail horses.
Unreliable: *Antonio Fresu - there are times when he can put in great ride, then 30 minutes later look like it’s his first time on horse. He’s gotten more inconsistent this year. *Mario Guitierrez - would NEVER single him in a Horizontal bet. Without Reddam supported horses, his win rate would drop significantly. Convinced if Reddam rode other jocks his Stable’s win % would jump. *Van Dyke - was really struggling, but Gulfstream boosting him.
You have tips on other jocks?

Dylan Davis ,I believe he has the highest ROI in the Spa colony,Add Kendrick Carmouche, great rider but doesn't get enough mounts IMHO.

Great call on Dylan Davis - I’ve noticed him this year, and seems to always be a value.
Also, not sure what Irad was doing in the last race at Saratoga on the 2 - is he trying to drive up horse’s odds for next race. Bizarre ride, just sat all the way to wire after great start and position. He does odd things at times.

This is a great topic! There are a couple jockeys I'd say are always dependable for good efforts. Ramon A Vazquez doesn't get the best horses, but watch out when he does. In fact, he's got a one going today in Saratoga's 8th @ 20-1. Hot recent work. (result: flashed speed, faded, ran last)
My other dependable jockey - especially in Stakes races - is of course... HIB.
