Ascot has the annual Shergar Cup races, a six-race jockey team challenge.
ASC R3 (9:45am ET)- 1m4f (1m3f211y) Shergar Cup Challenge (Handicap) (Class 2) (4yo+ 0-100)
www.racingpost.com/racecards/2/ascot/2024-08-10/872219
Like #4- Insanity (4-1) with jockey Rachel King, based in Australia, back home for the races. Progressive gelding by Nathaniel gets the rail, was a close second over C&D two weeks ago. For a longer price looking at #8- Dancing in Paris (10-1) from Ian Williams (no relation) which won here last month going farther.
EX- 4,8/4,5,8,10
Haydock Park offers the Rose of Lancaster S. (GIII), which isn't much of a betting event but features the return of the exciting Shadwell runner #2- Anmaat (2-1), winner of the Prix d'Ispahan (GI) at Longchamp last May before going to the sidelines. Hopefully he retains all of his abilities, the sky was the limit for him (12/7-4-1.)
HAY R2 (10:00am ET)- 1m2½f (1m2f100y) Rose Of Lancaster Stakes (Group 3) (Class 1) (3yo+)
www.racingpost.com/racecards/23/haydock/2024-08-10/872198
Curragh in Ireland has the Phoenix Sprint S. (GIII) for 3up going 6F, not to be confused with the Phoenix Stakes (GI) for 2yos at the same distance.
CUR R3 (9:50am ET)- 7f Irish EBF Fillies Juvenile Race (2yo)
www.racingpost.com/racecards/178/curragh/2024-08-10/874357
This 2yo race is restricted to maidens that haven't run before June 2024, and the pedigrees on display are mouthwatering. Dubawi, two by Justify, American Pharoah, and a Frankel. Can't bet it, must watch it though!
CUR R4 (10:25am ET)- 6f Phoenix Sprint Stakes (Group 3) (3yo+)
www.racingpost.com/racecards/178/curragh/2024-08-10/873239
#8- Electric Storm (4-1) looks highly progressive for James Tate, Ryan Moore takes the ride, kills the price. #11- Kind of Blue (5-1) son of Blue Point is also progressive for James Fanshawe, might get overlooked in the betting.
EX- 8,11/3,7,8,9,11
CUR R6 (11:35am ET)- 6f Phoenix Stakes (Group 1) (No Geldings) (2yo)
