I saw Nysos race in Feb. In March Baffert announced he had a setback, and would be walking under tack for 30 days.
When asked about the setback. Baffert said it was "minor".
Fast forward to almost August, no re-appearance and no works for 6 months. One assumes that during that 30 days perhaps new information revealed itself.
Such is the life and times of any young TB racehorse/athlete.
But wasnt this gifted horse the favorite in Preakness Pool #1?
While we have been conditioned to accept the risk inherent in future pools, ( and I accept that).....does anyone in the U.S. racing world even grasp the concept of "Horse Fans"?
Seems like fans of the horse, (yes, there is such a thing) or those who made an investment in futures, would desire an update? (Note: I purposely did not use the word "deserve" )
At the very least just providing timely updates on horses that were high up in the public's eye would certainly keep untrue rumors from flying.
I just cant see ANY DOWNSIDE to this kind of transparency....can you?

Seems the perfect candidate for this. Under HISA’s Anti-Doping and Medication Control (ADMC) Program, Out-of-Competition (OOC) Testing will be administered nationwide by the Horseracing Integrity & Welfare Unit (HIWU). HIWU will implement and enforce intelligence-based testing strategies to promote the integrity of Thoroughbred racing and the welfare of Covered Horses (CH). assets.hiwu.org/a/hiwu_factsheet_9_oocfaq_051223_8.5_by_11.pdf

The talented and precocious and undefeated Maymun ($900k) missing in action as well.
Quoting from the racing press, phrases like "big future!"; "one to watch!"; "dazzling debut winner"; "left eyes all widened", etc. T shirts were on one site with his name for the SA Derby.
So, i did what they said to do. Put on my watch list.
Last time we heard a peep...not running in SA derby.
The racing press seems only to hype and write about horses when trying to coax a wager out of us. Big build up, then disappearing act, and "on to the next shiny thing."
THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT HERE who follow horses. They are called fans.
Can somebody, anybody, step up? Why cant the fans who support this sport with their wagers know where a horse the mainstream racing press told us to watch know anytthung at all?
Maybe japan can show how it is done, and why their handle is 2x what ours is every year. .

Not picking on any one trainer, as I went thru this in spades in 2022 with Classic Moment. He won his maiden at CD. I liked his pedigree esp. the mare's side that showed he'd have no problem with the distance, plus all that sire speed he got from sire side (family 23b, Sire tff 4m, BmSire 13c of course Leslies Lady 23b). So, he runs in the Sunland Derby and was "vanned off." Trainer was Asmussen at the time. I looked all thru the racing press, week one, week two, week three......nada. No news.
A horse running in a KY Derby Prep race vanned off and not a peep of followup by the U.S. Racing press???
I finally did call a few racing secretaries who were at least able to tell me he was "alive and well."
(I looked in on him recently and he's with Diordoro now doing okay in lower level allowance and claiming races. So didn't turn out to be a top horse but I never did really know why he was vanned off or what his injury or problem was, maybe bled, etc.)
I wagered him at CD in his maiden. I wagered him at Sunland. I was a fan. But fans don't count.
