The Longest Yard was a great movie that Adam Sandler later butchered up as a remake. In my opinion anyway. Deliverance was a great movie as well. His last movie I recall was Boogie Nights and he didn't look well in that show...

Earliest memory from Gunsmoke, good stuff in Deliverance and Longest Yard. Did he ever write an autobiography? That would be an interesting quick read from his days in college football to Hollywood. Hooper

Burt occasionally guest-hosted for Johnny Carson on the Tonight show. One night supposedly unbeknownst to him they booked his ex-wife actress Judy Carne as a guest. Apparently it wasn't the most amicable of splits but it wound up being a great show. Judy told the story of how on their honeymoon, Burt turned on the Florida State football game(Burt. played football there), the audience roared with laughter.
He could have been a fine actor I think but he got comfortable with his popular roles that played to his stereotype. I thought his work in Deliverance was stellar (really the whole cast was). He was also good in a serious performance with Jill Clayburgh in Starting Over.
A personal favorite of mine was Sharkey's Machine with Rachel Ward.

Deliverance was his finest hour although he made other enjoyable movies. I can’t believe he was 82 but then again I don’t believe how old i’ve become !

Burt was the best...not a great actor but a movie star for sure...all the above mentioned are great, enjoyable films.....he championed the good old boy lifestyle of the south...always seemed to be having fun Hoop I don't remember him from Gunsmoke cuz we were a Bonanza house (like mayo vs Miracle Whip)...but I do remember the cop drama Dan August that he starred in...loved that show...later on he did a show called "Evening Shade" that imo is one of the best ensemble sitcoms...he made rom-com with Jill Clayburgh that was pretty good too... he'll be missed b.d. ps - Cherokee.....copy that on the advancing age thing

'i' think his best rolls, that 'i' enjoyed most, were his heavy rolls in detective type films...and 'i' enjoy the replays of johnny carson and merv griffen just about every night, in the wee hours on t v, which 'i' fall asleep watching many a time, lol...nice to see all those folk who were on the shows in their prime and up coming and now most have passed on...or are out of the spot light, for the greater part...just got a Paul Newman d v d which 'i' will watch when 'i' get home...( NOBODY'S FOOL )....lol....great actor and gentleman and person...enjoy his salsa he sells etc as well....'i' do not think there is a movie 'i' did not enjoy which had Mr. Newman in it....good car racer as well...etc...nostellja...

I enjoyed some of these Jon Favreau dinners, when they mixed an interesting bunch together. Burt was an outstanding storyteller. This was one of the best (Part One of Two):

Never listened to Jefferson Airplane much so I'm not familiar with these songs spider. But as someone who was there to witness Woodstock I can only imagine what memories these videos must conjure up for you. I wonder, was any other member of UIC at Woodstock? I still say that Woodstock changed our culture one way or another.

Burt Reynolds was also in a flick called Striptease where he played a politician infatuated with a strip tease dancer (Demi Moore looking as hot as ever).

I wasn't a fan of Striptease the movie. The Carl Hiassen book on which it was based was very good though.
