Day 1 PartsNut lands an absolute monster
“And they’re off at Saratoga “ as 59 forum members went to the gate for the Saratoga Cup Classic XVI ( that’s 16 for you folks that went to college on a sports scholarship) . In the opener Royal Tryst ($13.20) may have sold for $500k as a yearling but he earned his gold medal today in a $20k claiming race which was perfectly saezed up by Goldandmyrrh who got proceedings off to a fast for our group. When given Half A Chance ($6.50) Phlier Freak has been known to hit the target on occasion and his selection was able to ward off all challengers in the second. Contest host Ten Furlongs successfully launched his bid to win this year’s contest when High Tide ($4.70) shipped in to take the third.
Losing an iron at the beginning of the fourth race proved to be a minor inconvenience for Snow’s Island ($19.40) as Indypacer got his campaign off to a fast start and Goldandmyrrh doubled up on the day while the friendless Majority Partner ($5.30) had minority interest in the fifth. It didn’t take long for this year’s contest to bring some excitement and Partsnut will take charge after Winter Son ($89.00) lit up the tote board in the sixth. Ozzy made the classic gambler’s mistake of liking Tarabi ($4.40) in the seventh but not selecting him and was left with chocolate gelato on his face.
Canisy ($9.30) gave Christophe Clement his first winner of the meet in the eighth much to the misery of Otis who has always professed to be his #1 fan. Just Cindy ($6.20) was missed by everyone in the ninth including our own Cindyloujazz while the ban on political discourse in the forum wisely made us all stay well clear of Abuse of Power ($6.60) in the finale.
So congratulations on a fantastic start by Partsnut who has already set the bar very high after Winter Son ($89.00) bolted in on day one. However as BertConvy and GAM know from bitter recent experience it’s tough holding on to a big early lead in a forty day contest !

Day 2 - The pursuit of Partsnut begins - is there a Superhero out there ?
A crowd of 24,344 attended the first Friday of Saratoga 2022 and witnessed a huge impact in this year’s contest in the opener . Sorry , I’m Just Kidding as Lady Mine ($18.60) failed to find any UIC suitors when romping in the first. I’m sure one of us liked the winner of the second but it appears from reading our forum that they wished to Remain Anonymous ($3.40) ! A storm was abreuing after Whistler’s Honor ($7.60) took the third and Just Like This ($6.80) was another cold play by our group in the fourth .
Thankfully Ten Furlongs finally got us collectively off the mark when Juulstone ($6.20) vaped the field in the fifth. It wouldn’t be a Saratoga Cup without BertConvy being able to Danzigwiththestars ($16.20) but this time he had a barrage of fellow hoofers in DBLakers , WrightStuff and Arsignman in the sixth. John Halversen registered his interest in the seventh race and was suitably rewarded to the tune of Six Per Cent ($15.20).
Empress Tigress ($9.20) in the eighth was not as popular as her Irish counterpart who flopped earlier but Sounds of Saratoga and Otis got smoking in the ninth when City Man ($26.60) atoned for previous disappointments. Those of us still searching for a winner failed to discover Khali Magic ($16.80) and were left empty handed in the finale as our selections were gone with the wind but we can be consoled by the fact that tomorrow is another day .
So after day 2 Partsnut retains his sizeable lead but we can be comforted by the fact that he has already used 35% of his picks before the majority of the field has even started 🤑

I'd like to respectfully make an addendum to today's report.(Macallan flowing liberally at the Hendry household ) Phlierfreak nailing the 2nd,3rd race double with selections Remain Anonymous(which he did) and Whistler's Honor ..while Ozzy nailed Empress Tigress(off the stable watch...not letting this one get by..) and John Halverson scoring on the same. PS Partsnut looking to win this aka Badactor style.(2 for 40) PS..Bev, I'll have what your having lol! I enjoy your day's take, sober or otherwise.

Day 3 - Wastin’ away again in Macallanville
The first Saturday of the meet saw 30,024 punters witness a typical race day in New York with Chad Brown saddling four winners and Todd Pletcher two. For UIC members the good news is that Tom Williams won’t have much work tonight updating the leaderboard , the bad news ( unless I’m mistaken which based on recent experience is a good probability) is that despite a multitude of selections we only had three winners on the day .
Some things at Saratoga Never Change ($7.60) such as Pletcher and Irad winning the opener although it must be a huge relief to genuine horse racing fans to see David Jacobsen back in the game with the famous NY trainer claiming the third place finisher North Pole where I hope he will now make his permanent residence. In the second race SpiderJohn was looking to make some quick munny but unfortunately Chloe Rose ($6.40) proved to be a thorn in his side. Robyn and Eli was a popular pick in the third but sadly neither of them won as we were all left looking for Whatlovelookslike ($12.80). Chad Brown was able to offload winner Higher Quality ($3.90) in the fourth race and as a former claimer of two Chad Brown horses I wish all the best to his new connections 😳
Mr Kringle was the group selection in the fifth but there was no miracle on Caroline Street today as John Halversen was happy to see the Shutters ($14.20) put up for our first win of the day . In the sixth race , six of the seven runners were claimed but none of us got our talons into the winner Flamingo Hawk ($8.50) . Baby Yoda ($8.60) proved to be worth the investment risk in the seventh to give David Brown his first winner of the contest. The grade 1 Diana saw the other other other Chad Brown entrant In Italian ($18.60) win which was the ideal antipasto for last minute contestant Mysaladdays.
The final three races of the day were notable for our futility . Credit Event ($11.20) took the ninth showing more royal spirit than any of our picks. In the tenth Great Navigator was the consensus choice but it was Mo Strike ($18.40) who found his way into the winner’s circle. In the finale Otis was dreaming that 50-1 longshot Lemon Taffy would elevate him to the top of the leaderboard but in reality he should have been just Looking to Fly ($23.80)
Tough day for our leader Partsnut who is obviously intent on using up all his forty picks in the first week of the contest whilst yours truly is waiting for the Open Championship to finish before he opens up a DRF 😉

Day 4 Honk for Donk ; Four way Jose ! There was a reported crowd of 20,690 for the first Sunday of the meet although it looked like a lot of the season ticket holders may have stayed home to watch the Open Championship. In the opener Curly , Larry and Moe was a popular selection but Jacckk8 showed that he was nobody’s stooge when kaching in on Light Man ($17.20). Surprisingly all the Ennio Morricone fans on the board missed out on the opportunity to make a fistful of dollars on Trinity Titoli ($10.20) in the second . Big Bean Christine was a popular choice in the third but sadly her bean was not big enough and she missed out by a nose to Crosstalk ($4.70). Obviously no Jeffrey Toobin fans on the forum as we missed out on Zoomer ($7.60) who had things well in hand in the fourth. The hardy and perennial Yarrow ($6.80) blossomed in the fifth while O’Trouble ($5.10) caused no trouble to our scorer in the sixth. Lady Thornhill ($34.40) looked a picture in the paddock but all of us just glossed over her as David Donk got his first of two on the day in the seventh . Big Invasion ($3.70) took the final call in the Quick Call while Three Two Zone ($25.20) was a ray of sunshine in the ninth . After eight blanks in a row Nick Vito saved our collective blushes when opening his account with Our Jessica ($6.10) in the finale . So at the end of the first shortened week Partsnut despite his big early lead might not be too tough to crack with Goldandmyrrh already applying early pressure as we look forward to a full schedule beginning on Wednesday References : www.almanac.com/plant/yarrow www.cnn.com/2021/06/10/media/jeffrey-toobin-returns-cnn/index.htmlwww.nationaltrustcollections.org.uk/object/996305

Day 5 : Only Eddie has the Wright stuff
The first Wednesday of the meet and 18,588 brave souls attended a hot and humid Saratoga hopefully followed by a relaxing visit to the Spa afterwards to cool down. Former champion Cherokee Scot entered the fray for the first time this year but not only was his selection pistol whipped in the first but to add insult to injury he finished last and was vanned off. Ironically the Grade 1 steeplechase was won by the only American bred in the race as the grey mare named after an Irish racecourse Down Royal ($15.60) triumphed. In the second the hot favorite Mariah’s Fortune ($3.20) did not carry any of our hopes and certainly did not make a fortune for those who bet her. We were all shouting uncle again in the third as our pain endured with Aunt Virginia ($5.60) coming out on top . In the fourth Indypacer selected Home for Christmas and the good news for him is that he probably will be as Pure Bode ($10.60) finished out of sight to give WrightStuff the first winner for our group of the day. In the fifth Numero Seis was a very popular choice but unfortunately he finished numero siete compelling us to Leave No Trace ($10.20) at the pay out window.
WrightStuff was certainly milking it today and Happy Farm ($5.40) was the cream of the crop in the sixth to give Eddie a double on the day . There was some Crowding Out ($9.60) in the seventh but not at the IRS window and also again in the eighth as our group failed to cash a Smash Ticket ($6.10) . Defending champion Salestopper made her seasonal debut in the ninth but there was no Dream Central ($21.40) ending this time around as the horse she bred Solib ran out of gas in a valiant attempt to go wire-to-wire. In the finale all the Hunter NO POLITICS fans were on Naked and Famous but this time he never got a sniff to finish well behind Blinding Light ($12.00) who normally only wins on the weeknd.

Wow. I don't know who Roberto F. is, but that was the best 80s video I've seen since...the 80s! Brilliant visuals, serious talent there. The Weeknd continues to surprise, too.

Day 6 - Partsnut stretches it out on innuendo day
Late morning rain knocked a couple of races of the turf on another hot Saratoga day enjoyed by 19,244 patrons and hated by the remainder of the population. Many of our members were undaunted by the sauna like steamy conditions but given the age demographic of our forum unsurprisingly none of us came Up To The Mark ($3.80) in the opener. At least we perceived the advice of the authorities to put on plenty of sunscreen resulting in No Burn ($9.10) in the second. If you wanted cash in a flash then Al’s Prince ($10.40) was the way to go in the third but did anyone go there - not a chance !
Apparently NDSC , Onion and Phlier Freak are regular shoppers at K Mart so it was no surprise when their hunch bet of V Mart ($8.50) paid dividends for them in the fourth. My Girl Lexi finally made it to Saratoga and was a popular choice in the fifth but despite all our urging failed to Domineer ($10.40) who extended Partsnut lead at the top . Despite having all the stewards , owners , trainers and jockeys in his pocket Barzini failed to deliver in the sixth and was blown away by Jeremy’s Jet ($6.70). Naturally , if somewhat optimistically , Big Package was the consensus choice in the seventh where none of us were smart enough to take a principled stand on Artemus City Limits ($6.50).
Caragate ($5.60) which is by the way a totally made up name took the eighth and was appropriately selected by our very own Camourous , another totally made up name .😉 In todays feature Onion finally confirmed his move up into the big leagues thanks to his efforts on the Practice Squad ($12.60) . In the finale the juvenile behavior continued with Shackled By Lust being an overwhelming choice but was not very sharp as American Rockette ($11.00) danced her way into the winner’s circle .

Day 7 PartsNut almost done as Phlier Freak and Ten Furlongs make a move As is customary on a Friday most of us held our selections back for the weekend but with hindsight, today was the day to get some decent price winners from somewhat unusual locations. The opening race of the day was a cracker with a plethora of expensive and well bred two year olds . Alexis Zorba made the trip over from Ireland in search of a pot of gold but all the pre race buzz turned out to be blarney as a slow start cost him the race to the benefit of the Chad Brown trainee Appraise ($24.80) who was highly valued by Phlier Freak. In the second race it is unusual to see a Pletcher runner go off at 20-1 but we all lacked the Impulsiveness ($40.60) to take a punt and missed out on a golden opportunity. It’s still early days in the contest so it was no surprise that nobody went for a Lastchanceatglory($13.80) in the third. Meanwhile Cindyloujazz has had her designs on getting a nice priced winner from the get go and Rhombique ($19.20) was in the perfect shape to deliver in the fourth . Perennial contender Ten Furlongs feels that this might finally be his year and Bricco ($21.00) served up the special of the day for him in the fifth. Ria’s Angel ($5.80) did not ring any bells while winging home in the sixth while given the odds it was unlikely that we were going to Keepmeinmind ($3.60) in the seventh. Jills A Hot Mess was a popular choice in the eighth but wasn’t tidy enough to stave off Making My Move ($9.50) . The featured Lake George while not exciting as a betting race gave us the opportunity to see the stars of the Chad Brown barn and those in the 22,000 crowd not eating cake were shouting “Vive La France” as Dolce Zel ($8.60) earned a sweet victory for her syndicate of billionaire owners. After some big price winners early in the day our uninspired selections were collectively dashed in the finale when Let Her Inspire U ($4.10) justified her favoritism. Day 8 - CindyLouJazz sparkles while My Salad Days exits Stage Left
Its steamy hot in Saratoga but I was in the pool all day so what’s not to like in America 🇺🇸 especially if you are Turbine who must have felt Really Good ($14.20) after the opener. No one wanted to be a Baziilionaire ($3.00) in the second and why not , does it bring you happiness 😉. Meanwhile in the third Jacckk8 took a quick dip in Union Lake ($15.00) and showed no signs of shrinkage after kaching in handsomely. Ozzy has been pretty forthright in his opinions so far in the meeting to date and for once he gotta see it right as Jane Mast ($9.00) sailed home in the fourth.
SpiderJohn like many of us has been struggling to get off to a good start but the chickens finally vane home to roost as Nest ($3.90) won the feature by the proverbial mike. It wouldn’t be a Saratoga Cup without some degree of controversy and unfortunately the selections of My Salad Days were made after the noon Canary Islands standard time deadline and it was a case of exit Stage Left ($30.20). However on a positive note it was another day to remember for CindyLouJazz as Robin Sparkles lit up to the tote board in the tenth. TC is never one to miss a party and after a wealth of research was able to come up with Catch That Party ($4.10) in the finale which undoubtedly sent the majority of Saturday’s attendees to Siros to celebrate

Day 9 - PartsNut race is run as the forum draw a blank on a strange Sunday at the Spa In the opener many of us were looking for a bourbon bash but it was jockey Manny Franco who did the bat flip after Blazing Sevens ($11.20) proved to an upgrade over our selections. Ampersand ($4.60) was the icon in the second but we didn’t figure that one either. Doctor Love ($9.90) got the gold in the third but was unloved otherwise. In the fourth TC went for his customary phantom smoke but in the end it was King Angelo ($9.90) who was the toast of the race presumably with a glass of Shiraz. The feature Shuvee Stakes did not offer much in the way of betting opportunities but Clairiere ($5.00) was still able to find a clearing after being boxed in and make a great impression. in the sixth Kaling ($8.80) had the last laugh but the UIC gang who were having a very bad day at the office were not in on the joke. Speaking of jokes the seventh race turned out to be a farce after the tractor filed to get the starting gate off the course in sufficient time and the race was declared a no contest. Swiftsure ($4.20) which was definitely not the theme for our picks on this hot Sunday added insult to injury in the eighth while nobody had a little faith on Nota Bene ($13.00) who was the noteworthy winner of the ninth. In the finale Emboite ($20.00) had to be on his toes to outpoint What A Dude and ensure the first whitewash of the year for our luckless group. So after a brilliant start on Day One PartsNut has used his forty selections and set the target of $99.40 and will be hoping for another 31 days like today . Day 10 - Do you believe in miracles ? Before we get to the opener, my apologies for the delay in today’s recap but I was waiting for Beetlebomb to post his selections😉. After we were all stumped on Sunday it was great to see Jacckk kaching in with all rounder Freddy Flintshire ($13.00) who bowled over Welshman who unfortunately sprung a leek in the opener. Propro was thinking that he might make up some ground with Bastet in the second but knot anymore as he totally missed the Daily Briefing ($6.80). We were all similarly disarmed when Noble Huntsman ($17.00) accomplished his mission in the third. In the feature Kimari ($8.10) proved to be the Queen of the crop when she dusted the field mulch to the delight of our resident farmer TimS70AR. The favored Mooney Love ($5.50) was a popular pick in the fifth and duly eclipsed the opposition which was pleasing to Eye123, Hooper and Arsignman. The maiden special weights have produced some big price winners so far this meet and did so again when Miracle ($31.60) iced the sixth for JohnHalvorsen. Hatari ($7.20) might not have been popular since 1962 but he still managed to duke it out in a shoot out in the seventh. In the eighth. Most of us thought it was preposterous for O’Gotten Girl ($3.40) to be running in a $16k claimer but I suppose we just cant handle the truth as a win and a claim was the way to unlock Todd Pletcher’s thinking in the eighth. Unfortunately no one had a high opinion of Messidor ($9.10) in the ninth believing that she couldn’t win as according to the French calendar she was past her peak. Yet another missed opportunity in the finale when despite the combination of D Wayne Lukas and Jose Ortiz we all failed to cash in on Backyard Money ($49.20) References www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/jul/09/freddie-flintoff-from-ashes-hero-to-crickets-class-warriorwww.historic-uk.com/HistoryUK/HistoryofWales/The-Leek-National-emblem-of-the-Welsh/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messidor

Day 11 - Jacckk8 on the move ! A rainy Thursday at the Spa but I’m sure that did not bother jockey Julien Leparoux and our very own SB West who both got off the duck with She’s Keen ($13.00) in the opener. Soufflé was a popular choice in the second but she didn’t quite rise to the occasion much to the delight of Jacckk8 who was kaching in big time on Little Linzee ($38.40). When you claim a horse for $32,000 and run him back for $12,500 you are looking for a Quick Return ($6.50) but Phlier Freak was not complaining about this unusual strategy in the third. We had almost a full complement of picks in the fourth but unfortunately Two for Charging ($16.00) was not one of them . In the feature despite our original intent we were all too scared to pick Fearless ($3.90) and the odds-on favorite duly obliged. Tyler Gaffalione has been having a stinker of a meet and it must have felt like birthday time for him today as Pegs A.K. Girl ($11.20) took the roundabout route to victory in the sixth. In the seventh SpiderJohn went all musical on us as Evan Sing ($6.70) hit all the right notes. Sadly no big breadwinners in the eighth as Price Discipline ($4.20) chalked up another winner for the Klaravich /Brown combination. Several of our group were not Mcloving it when the ninth came off the turf but for SB West it was just some more Cold Hard Cash ($6.80) earned on the day . Badactor spent all day wrestling with the PPs before selecting Nature Boy in the finale but he showed absolutely no flair at all as Cousin Andrew ($7.40) won without breaking sweat for Bitowisdom and Wrightstuff References : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ric_Flairwww.express.co.uk/news/royal/1545044/prince-andrew-sweating-claim-jeffrey-epstein-virginia-giuffre-spt

Day 12 - SB West heads north ! A day of mixed emotions at Saratoga with Bill Mott’s birthday coinciding with the last episode of the legendary Australian soap Neighbors. This is the sort of news that you don’t get in either the New York Times or the always excellent Saratoga Special , folks ! Meanwhile lots of picks by our group in the opener but we all missed out on the horse named after Bob Baffert’s vet -Golden Alchemist ($7.70). In the second race it seemed obvious that Seanan ($7.60) was a gift from god but since this race was not on Palm Sunday we passed over it. Ten Furlongs seized the day again with his selection of Fingal’s Cave ($4.80) in the third but the amazing fact to me was that the winner was not sired by Mendelssohn ! After a slow start SB West got his ball rolling yesterday and he hit it out of the park today in the fourth with FontanaFredda ($31.00) with last year’s final race heart stopper Happy Hill Lil right there at the finish again. In the fifth I had a gut feeling that Sweeping Giant ($5.20) might clean up and he indeed proved to be much swiffer than the rest. In the sixth SpiderJohn and Mverrone were in sync with Acoustic Ave ($5.00) while Artorious ($7.40) took the shine off Bill Mott’s Gikded Age celebrations in the feature. In the eighth it seemed that Fauci just needed one more injection of pace but Dancing Buck ($17.60) proved to be immune from defeat. TC was hoping that the ninth would turn out to be a Life Changer but his hopes were again left dashed On The Hill ($6.80) . In the finale most of us were hoping that there was indeed life on Mars but absent a Stella performance it was a Runaway Rockette ($17.10) who orbited the track fastest. Day 13 - A dandy day for UIC cappers as CindyLouJazz tightens the nut. A beautiful Saturday at Saratoga and with 37,476 patrons in attendance the Spa for the first time this meet had a real buzz to the place. Hooper got our group off to a great start in the opener when he tagged Capture The Flag ($7.60) who just found enough space to prevail . Cherokee Scot has been having a nightmare of a contest so far with four of his six losing selections running last but that was all forgotten as the formerly stone cold Jullien Leparoux determinedly took Our Dream Rye’d ($45.60) from last to first, resulting in bourbons all round after the second. Our great run continued in the third with the bold victory of Kissalot ($30.40) enabling PonyGirl and 5 Wide to get off the mark in style. Our hopes of going four for four were dashed after TC jinxed us and we collectively failed to say hello to Union Dolly ($22.60) who u hauled herself to victory. Similarly in the fifth despite all manner of exploration none of us discovered Amundsen ($14.40) in the fifth who won by a proverbial pole. Ten Furlongs continues to rack up the winners and hit a quick fire double with Marvelous Maude ($4.80) taking the cake in the sixth and Mister Chairman ($6.90) taking care of business in the seventh. Unsurprisingly given the odds we were content to just watch and Jackie’s Warrior ($2.50) domination in the Vanderbilt however SpiderJohn and Arsignman did create some minor tremors with Epicenter ($4.20) in the feature. CindyLouJazz is on such an impressive run at the moment that she can even hit the target with a Ricochet ($25.40) while Arsignman moved up to sixth on the impact of the same caliber in the tenth. Mad Munnys ($52.00) would have been a game changer had anyone selected him but that was not part of today’s big agenda and instead he played the part of the bad guy by dashing our last zip hopes when he barely won the finale . Day 14 - Halvorsen Hat-Trick Is Highlight of an otherwise ho-hum day at the Spa !!!
Week three at Saratoga ended with some nice price winners but unfortunately Truancy ($3.50) was absent from this list as he snuffed out Hooper’s Candle in the opener. My folks always advised me to Be Your Best ($19.80) but sadly I didn’t get the memo before Tom’s noon deadline so I guess it must have been a Trade Secret ($19.00) as we all blanked both the second and third races. Uniquely for the third race in a row the winner of the fourth went off at 8-1 but once again and possibly for good reason we were not involved in Unique Unions ($18.80).
In the middle of the card we were walking in a Halvorsen wonderland as he went back-to-back-to-back with Capital Structure ($6.20), Prank ($3.10) and Soldier Rising ($5.80) in races five, six and seven. Probably worth pointing out though it doesn’t really fit in with my writing flow that SpiderJohn and Arsignman also decided to play a Prank on the day.
The remainder of the day was almost forgettable as the 23,000 patrons focus shifted toward’s the evening’s upcoming Jockey karaoke contest. However it would be remiss of me not to mention the last race where Majestic Johnson ($12.40) had plenty in hand and poked his head out in front to come first in the finale.
So with three weeks and the month of July in the books our day one leader PartsNut is still leading but with the chasing pack closing in I have a feeling that he is not going to be leading by the coming weekend.

Day 15 Poca Mucha happening on a chalky day at the Spa The start of another week’s racing at Saratoga and it was nice to see so many of us going country in the steeplechase where Howyabud ($7.20) registered a decisive triumph. While the first race may have failed to amuse we did get some laughter in the second , particularly from Indypacer who took home the Glittering Prize ($8.80). TimS70AR and Turffan were also cured of the blues when Leddy ($5.30) displayed raw courage to score in the third. Meanwhile 5 Wide was able to carry on our winning streak in the fourth when Charge Account ($8.90) took home the goodies. Bert Convy was looking for a miracle in the fifth while SpiderJohn was hoping for a late Java buzz but both hopes were dashed as Sosua Summer ($9.70) took the triumphant road to victory. Our leader PartsNut had a relatively nerveless day as the only contender to make any inroads was Ten Furlongs who had Lady Jasmine ($7.70) to thank for moving him up to fifth place in the contest. You would have needed to be strong willed to select odds on favorite Tiergan ($3.30) in the seventh but all of us blew it. Many of us were hoping for another great battle between Sugar Gray Leonard and Hagler in the eighth but both were comfortably outpointed by Dot’s Dollar ($8.80). We neither gave too much or too little consideration to the ninth race and as a result Poca Mucha ($9.00) went unnoticed. There was not much flipping fun in the last either for Heads or Tails supporters as Cathedral Beach ($4.40) did not send many bettors home singing from the rafters. Day 16 Eye on the ball as GeneRayburn tries to dominate with 10 picks on the day
It was a hot hot hot 🥵 Thursday at Saratoga and so were our handicappers in the opener . It seems to me on occasions that half the folks in the forum may have a Sicilian Grandma ($4.10) and that was certainly the case in the opener as she won benevolently for Eye 123 , PhlierFreak and Propro. Indeed Eye 123 got his day off to a blistering start as Alluring Angel ($10.40) took the second overhauling the pacy Illicit ,tbe mount of Kendrick Carmouche but Propro failed to factor that into the equation. Maybe after that bright start the heat was beginning to take its toll as none of us Played Hard ($5.40) in the third.
Gene Rayburn obviously thought today was going to be his day with a selection in every race and he finally broke the ice in the fourth as Alpine Queen ($7.50) skated home. TimS70AR also had reason to rejoice as One More Baby (S7.80) delivered in the fifth. After several close runs in the contest Ten Furlongs is determined not to take a back seat to anyone this year and La Chaise ($7.10) moved him up to fourth place after taking the sixth.
There were many different selections in the seventh but no one had the recipe for Spicy Marg ($11.20) while Gene Rayburn was rewarded in the feature for his magnificent selection display by Art Collector ($3.60). In the ninth Emaraaty ($8.90) said Bye Bye Melvin as he strolled past the forum consensus choice but the biggest surprise to me was the $80k claim of 29-1 shot Forty Under who finished eighth 😳. Finally we all missed out on Miss Domina ($13.50) in the last in what must be the first time I’ve ever seen the horse whip the jockey !

Day 17 - A great day for many of those still looking to get off the duck.
Hot and steamy accurately described both the weather and Tom Williams after the second race at Saratoga on Friday . Former champ TC who is having a shocking meet was hoping for a more enjoyable customer experience in the opener but his money would have been Well Spent ($4.40) elsewhere. We had our first DQ this year in the second which was not much of a laugh for Ten Furlongs but brought joy to BeetleBomb , Diablo , Goldandmyrrh and Ziggy whose play was Quaria Thunder ($9.50) . Meanwhile John Halvorsen moved back into fourth place again after Jay’Stalker ($9.60) kept a straight path to take the third.
The image of Gandy Dancing ($9.60) brings a smile to my face and I’m sure 5Wide and Ziggy felt the same when he stepped into the winner’s circle after the fourth. On what was proving to be a successful day for our group Diablo after striking out twenty seven times hit a double for Good Measure ($10.40) in the fifth. We had to run for cover though in the sixth when our streak came to an end with one of those Aztec Nights ($9.40) .
Direct Order ($7.10) was both a handy and a welcome winner for Madame Blum in the seventh while both Pedalcar and Trapshot were Ready To Purrform ($9.80) in the eighth . Thankfully none of us were that desperate to select odds on shot Golden Pal ($2.60) in the ninth and Wicked Lady ($8.20) was likewise untouched in the finale.
So PartsNut still leads after a day in which the longest shot winner was only 4-1 but was more notable for the fact that six of our contestants who had previously gone 0-82 all had at least one winner.

Day 18 Cruzan and Turffan make a dynamic move in an action packed Saturday at the Spa TC , no doubt motivated by the criticism he has been taking in the recap for his abysmal showing so far got the day off to a great start with a victory in the opener by Battle of Normandy ($8.30) a success shared by Hooper who was probably an actual participant. In the second She Caught My Eye ($6.80) unfortunately did not so a follow up visit to the Wal Mart vision center is in the cards for yours truly. Mosienko ($7.70) may have scored the fastest hat trick in NHL history but no one in our group gives a puck about hockey resulting in an empty net conclusion to the third. Horse racing is not exactly famous for Good Governance ($6.30) so it was no surprise that he went unheeded in the fourth. In the fifth Cruzan went from DFL with a score of 0-28 to just outside the top ten after Dynadrive /$48.00)pulled off a shocker in the sixth. Turffan who has also been languishing at the back of the pack made a similar move with that dynamic selection. TC struck again in the sixth probably trying to Disarm ($5.70) me from further dispersions while SpiderJohn and Indypacer also enjoyed this success no matter how meager it was. I do feel however that in the same race Bobtailnag deserves a mulligan with his pick of Olazaball. Cherokee Scot tried to beat War Like Goddess ($2-30) in the seventh but his tactic today of following up a longshot with a favorite worked in the eighth when the beautifully bred Saint Tapit ($5.30) showed great he might be a horse to watch in the big Autumn stakes races. Joel Rosario has won half the graded stakes races in Saratoga this meet so it was surprising that no one picked Chi Town Lady ($36.00) who passed her Test with flying colors (all green actually) . Cherokee Scot and Jacckk8 both live in Florida so Life is Good ($3.70) is not only their mantra but also their selection when kaching in on the Whitney. Nation’s Pride ($6.20) received the customary smooth ride that a Buick always provides and just as well it was a SUV as Arsignman, Hooper ,Real Quiet, SalesTopper, Turffan and 5 Wide were all on board for the Saratoga Derby. Meanwhile Camorous rounded off a great day’s handicapping for our group when Action Jackson ($9.00) prevailed in the finale References en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Mosienko

Day 19 - Not a Dream of a Day for the UIC handicappers. There were 24,832 patrons in attendance on Sunday at the Spa where it was so hot and humid that even Prince Andrew was sweating. Julien Leparoux does not get many winners at Saratoga but when he does it’s like a work of art and his ride in the opener on Gilcrease ($54.00) was a masterpiece. Having swung and missed in the first we also struck out in the second when Blue Jays ($5.80) flew home. Goodnight Olive ($2.70) said “oil be seeing you” to us in the third just not at the payout window. D Wayne Lukas at 87 years old may still be training stakes winners like Naughty Gal ($4.90) but despite a virtuoso effort by Janis Joplin it was becoming clear that we were not breaking any records today. Chad Brown was having a much better day than us as evidenced by Raging Sea ($15.80) rolling home in the fifth and the nearest any of us got to Pink Hue ($7.60) in the sixth was a possible case of conjunctivitis. Defending champion Salestopper was the only one eating good in the neighborhood as Charlie Appleby’s With The Moonlight ($4.30) took the Saratoga Oaks to go along with yesterday’s Saratoga Derby win. Sadly that was the only winner that our group had on the day although looking through his photos Tom Williams appeared to have enjoyed some Colorful Mischief ($8.60) which will no doubt appear on Our Flash Drive ($10.00) or whatever Digital Software ($7.50) we are using. So after 19 days PartsNut still leads although he still has someway to beat Bert Convy’s record of leading for 39 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds ! Day 20 - Woah we’re halfway there , PartsNut still livin’ on a prayer ! After the excitement of the two day Fasig Tipton yearling sale with multi multi-million dollar horses bought and sold , Wednesday at Saratoga had a leftover meal feeling to it. The card still however took some interest from our contestants hoping to take profit in the opening hurdle race but that turned out to be a Sad State of Affair ($16.40) for those that jumped in. In the second Bert Convy and Triguy were hoping to be celebrating with Papi on Ice but were left to Drink the Wind ($2.40) Turffan was hoping that King of Comedy would put a smile on his face in the third but it was the bettors of Conman ($6.80) who had the last laugh. Kinetic Sky was a popular choice in the fourth but it was Sibelius ($5.40) who was composed at the Finnish. Several of us were looking to Be The Boss in the fifth but our return on investment was zero even Inflation Adjusted ($7.70). Lots of selections trying to crack the Security Code in the maiden special weight sixth race but none for Maple Leaf Mel ($3.40 who had the race parceled up early in the stretch. Stainless Steel was a bit rusty in his comeback in the seventh where I’m sure someone might have liked the winner but just could not Vocalize ($13.20) it. Trainer Tom Amoss may have recorded his 4000th win in the eighth with Isolate ($14.60) but our group were still looking for their first ! By the time the ninth race came along TimS70 was willing to go to Timbuktu to get a winner but he should have just looked at the Front Line Dancer ($10.20) instead. Just when it seemed our chances of a successful selection were looking remote JohnnyBatTBD saved our bacon with Running Bee ($6.70) in the finale with Pedalcar also along for the ride. Day 21 - Bill Mott shows the young dudes that he’s still got it . After yesterday’s rather deflating showing our group were back at it again today but the chances of catching PartsNut are unlikely if you’re not even Catching Cupid ($6.10) in the opener. Maybe we were still waiting on a message from God as we also missed out on Angelinka ($5.40) in the second. There was no high fiving either in the third and certainly not for track announcer John Imbriale’s preposterous pronunciation (try saying that after a few drinks) of Dame Cinco ($3.60) . Phlier Freak sent in a barrage of selections today but was spooked by Ghost Giant ($14.80) in the fourth. We could all sense a giant upset in the fifth but somehow we missed out on a great opportunity in not appointing Top Envoy ($71.00) . Cherokee Scot like one of his favourite characters Baldrick , has a cunning plan to win this year’s contest and powered up to seventh position with Donegal Surges ($7.00) in the sixth. Claytnthelionheart ($8.60) only seems to win at Saratoga , a point that was well remembered by Turffan who benefitted accordingly in the seventh. NDSC just fired the one arrow today but Cupid’s Girl missed the target as Lan Lo Lady ($22.20) hit the bullseye in the eighth . Up and coming young trainers Jonathan Thomas and James Begg thought they had the feature between them but Empress Tigress and Delmona were overtaken in the shadow of the wire by veteran Bill Mott’s Poppy Flower ($10.40). In the finale JolyB went for Bavarian Crème but instead of the cream rising to the top she sank to the bottom but that did not take the shine off a maiden victory claimed by Saratoga Chrome ($20.40). Day 22 Another day in Paradise for long time leader PartsNut as the chasing pack misses out again A beautiful Friday at the Spa but unfortunately our handicapping was not as spectacular as the weather as we struck out in the first four races. I hope none of you take offense at my occasional jabs but I can assure you it’s never personal and I’m Just Kiddin ($3.60) but if you do decide to pout I will probably Run Up The Score ($3.60) so Wudda U Think Now ($15.40) . Indeed after the unselected Tapple Cider ($10.20) won the fourth I was tempted to throw a grenade and say “ How do you like them apples ! “ Thankfully Propro and Eye stopped the bleeding and finally had the prescription for success when Eloquist ($27.00) took the fifth and although we grudgingly missed out on Bank on Anna ($7.60) in the sixth , life was a beach for Camorous who discovered Bahamian Club ($12.80) in the seventh. We all failed to Bankit ($6.00) in the eighth and Smokin Hot Kitty ($9.80) did not light it up for us in the ninth. Sinfully Sweet was the consensus pick in the finale both before and after the deadline but she only teased us and it was left to Italian Stallion to end the day on a high note as he had Theodora Grace ($29.60) covered.
