As luck would have it, I'll be in Vegas for the first round of the NCAA tourney? Anyone been and have any tips for managing the crowd or good places to watch?
also any great sites for info out there? I'm not usually a sports bettor, but for March Madness in vegas, I'll surely be making some action bets...

Elk- as someone who follows college hoops a fair amount- I find it difficult to bet on it. Have been in vegas at tourney time though and it is great. I think sometimes the half time lines for the second half offer value if you have been able to watch the first half and get a handle on the game flow.

I learned my lesson about wagering on NCAA bb in 1985. Rollie Massimino's Villanova Wildcats were playing well. I thought they were as good as any team in the talented Big East conference. I bet on them against Pitt. whom they had beaten a month earlier. They lost in a blowout. The played them again in the Big East tourney 5 days later and won. They then went on to win the NCAA National Championship by upsetting #1 ranked Georgetown. You never know which group of guys are going to show up in men's college bb. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1984%E2%80%9385_Villanova_Wildcats_men%27s_basketball_teamTim

agree 100% with Gooch on point guards...especially senior point guards....defensive field goal % is a stat I like to work around.....they're all away games now so teams who've played well on the road usually continue to do so...just sayin'
and watch those 11 seeds..especially my alma mater Loyola :-)

I've actually done pretty well betting college hoops in the past and reasonably well this winter after getting sucked back in. Have futures on UNC, Gonzaga and Auburn. Couldn't tell you where to hang out in Vegas but I'd imagine it'll be a blast just feeding off the crowds. If I can I'll post some plays I like later in the week.

Bracket reminder. This team has 3 of the best guards in the country and a big center with speed who just happens to be one of the best freshmen in the country.

Potential first round (well, is it second round now?) matchup to watch for. If Syracuse wins the play-in game they will get TCU, which makes the Tourney for the first time in about 20 years, now coached by ex-Pitt head coach Jamie Dixon. Dixon had a remarkable record against Syracuse at Pitt and seemingly was very adept at beating Syracuse's famed 2-3 zone. Not sure what that line would be but if it's not a big number TCU might be a solid play in that one.

FWIW, Bob Huggins was interviewed this morning by the local Pittsburgh sports talk radio show. He likes his team and thinks they are playing well but mentioned that Murray St is an overlooked team with a lot of talent. Murray St is getting 9.5 at the moment.
