I was checking in at HorseTourneys this morning to see how Eric, Jack and Tony were doing in the Flo/Cal event, and I see that HT now offers the ability to create Private Tournaments. I think that we should definitely try this out ASAP. The minimum entry fee is as low as $10 for a Pick 'n' Pray. The hold back is only 13% which is quite fair IMO, so that 87% off the money gets paid out, and we don't have to do the scoring or set-up . Can I get some input from UIC members: do you have an account at HT, or would you play if you had an account, do you have PayPal (or Credit Card) to move money in and out? I'd happily set up tournaments on a regular basis if we could get six or more entries every time. The only limitations that I can see initially, is on tracks offered (not every track is included in HT's roster) and notification time (24-48 hours in adavance.) What say ye? Interested? Thanks. TW

As a qualifier for one of the big games...
something like we did for Las Vegas HPWS. Pari-Mutuelly, I don't want UIC member money, but a contest to send one of us to a BIG EVENT might be worth a thought... that's my two cents.

I actually had to look up to see if I had an account with them. Yep, last time I played was 2017 ! If this is something a number of members want, I'd probably give it a go from time to time. I can also see Dell's point here.

My memory needs a little refreshing, maybe someone can help me out here. I'm not a big tourney guy, rarely play them(except here)and only follow when someone here is in them.(moral support) ...Didn't (I think it was Larry) setup a tournament here(some years ago) for a buy-in to ??(one of the major tournaments) with that respective tournament(set it up with them) for a seat. If I remember right. This thread brought that to mind.

Thanks for all the feedback so far, it seems there is some interest, with many members already having HT accounts. I understand Dell's sentiments, but I don't think of this as a way for somebody to "get over" on other members. If it's not working out for some reason, it'll naturally lose participation and become untenable. We could also have a bigger buy-in contest or two, like Dell and eye suggested, where the winner would be staked for some large contest (HPWS, etc.) representing the forum. I'd like to go ahead and try it, hopefully with Dell's blessing. Maybe once a month or so, on big race days, bearing in mind that HorseTourneys doesn't offer all tracks. I'm thinking we could try the Pegasus card at Gulfstream on Saturday, January 29th as an experiment. $10 per entry, max of two entries per HT format. I'd be willing to set up this first one, unless someone else would like to do it.
Feedback and more opinions welcome, and would like to hear from more members about whether they would participate, occasionally or regularly. Thanks.

I am in. Max two chances. It only takes few minutes to set up an account. I pay in right from my debit card. Credited in seconds. Also every Sat. HT has a free contest for members. Top prize $50. I have won it before. Good way to get your feet wet with the system!

Today, you might notice a new black button thatâs now appearing on the top of the Filters section. That button links to a âSetup Wizardâ of sorts for our newest site feature: the ability to create Private Tournaments at HorseTourneys. This is one of those projects that weâve been wanting to do for years. But like many things that are worth doing on the development side, it was continually pushed down the to-do list for more immediate needs. Fortunately, earlier this year we found ourselves in a position to make it reality. While weâve done some limited things with private tournaments previously, this new tool takes things to a different level by allowing players themselves to setup their own private tournaments. Have a group of buddies that keep talking about whoâs the best handicapper? Maybe youâre having a party and wish you could setup your own tournament for your guests? Your own event is now just a few clicks away. The tool is designed to be simple by guiding you through the setup process step-by-step. You can choose among our typical offerings on the cash side, including standard Pool-Style (including Winner-Take-All and Head-to-Head), Exacta, and Survivor games. Probably the most important thing to point out is that your choice of race schedules must be made from the list of eligible active schedules on the site. By active, we mean any schedules that have race data imported. This means, generally speaking, youâll only be able to setup contests about 48 hours in advance (shrinking to about 24 hours in advance for typical single-track schedules). Still, youâll have access to the vast majority of schedules that HorseTourneys runs, including Featured multi-track schedules, Quick Early Bird, all single tracks, etc. So, while for a number of reasons we cannot offer the ability for players to create their own custom schedules, there will be plenty to choose from on a day-to-day basis. Once you setup a private tournament, youâll be given a special link that you can share with your invitees. Just shoot out the link to your guests and youâre all on your way.
