Churchill Downs has taken notice of what the mandatory payout days for GP's Rainbow 6 does to the pools on those days and decided to split the carryover from the unhit Derby P6 multiple times over the rest of the meet. But Churchill's plans to split the pot for tonight's Stephen Foster Night were scuttled Thursday when someone scooped the pot and collected $549k. The winning mutuels: $13, $8.40, $12.60, $5.80, $11.20 and $25. Not exactly the numbers that suggest a single winner, but so it was for one lucky bettor.

Doc, hard to imagine a payoff that large being sheltered by combining tickets. I'd like to know how much he invested in that pool. Total was a little over $100k.
