Who is baking today? 4 dozen cookies done, homemade brownies are in the oven. Mushroom-red wine sauce for the tenderloin on deck. Merry Christmas!

Jack's frozen pizza with ice cream bars for desert. Just kidding, we are actually having a turkey breast, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and stuffing since I spent Thanksgiving in an ER in Georgia.

My contributions to my brother's Christmas gathering were of the snack variety. Tried my hand at a home-crafted party mix (eating up the left overs now) and made a spinach/artichoke dip, also. Took a few nice beers, too, but didn't brew them. LOL Hmm, dare we ask for that cookie/brownie recipe? LOL And Spanky, had an unexpected "White Christmas." Left a very green Pittsburgh to drive to Northern PA only to find most of the ground still covered in the white stuff. Kind of the best of both worlds in that the weather was warm enough and clear that roads were completely clear yet still had the aesthetics of a White Christmas.

mixing has always been a treat---quality of the herbs being the key--40+ years ago came up with a red & green Christmas mix blend of Colombian herbs with Hawaiian herbs
favorite sandwich---wtf???

Pittsburgh is somewhat famous for a sandwich served on Italian bread and featuring a vinegar based coleslaw and fries inside. Add an egg if you’d like. Served at Primanti Brothers. Attachment DeletedAlso have a decent black bean version. 😀

If I had a choice just plain Thai is the way to go, Afghani 2nd. Mixing those two would be interesting. When they say American herbs are of the same intensity, nothing in my lifetime came close. Intense and long with just a pinch added to a late bloomer, 45 minutes then omg.
A friend of a friend worked in the merchant marine so foreign herbs a few times. My luck I know Jamaican herbs quite well too. The son of the Jamaican ambassador lived across from a friend at WVU. Diplomatic immunity for those herbs every break.
Kind of funny but I was a boy scout in troop (horns please!) 420 with quite a few bad eagle scouts. Virtually everything I was introduced to was by an eagle scout. LOL even 3.2 beer on a camping trip along the C&O canal. Laughing because it's hard to get drunk on and the only beer available in WV at the time.Glad we didn't find a state store ... might have tried grain alcohol. Yeah no real beer but grain alcohol is fine for an 18 yo.

In Cincy it is tiny hot dogs in a bun smothered with cincy chili, cheese and onions. Skyline or Gold Star---can do either--slight preference to Skyline. Also popular is chili spaghetti with the same on top.
lol zig--Thai was always pretty much standalone. Why mess with it? Spent a month up the hill in the red ground of Negril back in 71 or 72. Almost 50 years ago--wow

I just polished off one my all time favorite sandwiches...bacon, fried egg and cheese on white bread with mayo...how about your favorite sammy? Spanky, if this is your favorite sandwich, just curious if you have a cardiologist on retainer. LOL Another Pittsburgh classic line of sandwiches might be found at Fathead's (originally a bar on Pittsburgh's South Side, which now has ventured into brewing, as well, ironically choosing to build its brewery up near Cleveland. And they make good beers, but I digress). There are many versions of the Headwich at Fathead's, named as such because they are as big as your head. Here's one called The Bay of Pigs (pork sandwich): Attachment Deleted

Spider... I love you brother but that Cincinnati chili is nasty stuff....wtf is cinnamon & clove doing in a chili recipe....just sayin' A tip/trick you might want to try when making your next pot of chili, toss in a splash (or perhaps a bit more) of red wine vinegar. Gives the chili a tangy sweetness, but don't over do it unless you love the tartness of vinegar.
